More PORTAL HUD modification - Hardcore

Hi.

So seems we have no other choice but to deal with portal to recreate the hardcore servers, problem is that in fact we can't really. Regarding the HUD other than the minimap and ally/ennemy ident, it's quite binary. HUD on or off.

Would be a real plus to be able to go more in depth to reproduce the proper hardcore HUD from previous opus :

- minimap : on / off

- ally ident : on / off

- ennemy ident : on / off (for some reason even in off when an enemy is close he still sometime spotted. Can't figure out why)

now also add

- killcam : on / off

- default aim cross : on / off

- hitmarker : on / off

- charger & ammo quantity / gadget / health info : on / off (or at least more simplified (no health, no ammo, just infos about the amount of chargers that we carry)

Because without those things, the only way is to turn off all the HUD (now we can still find the objective by using the main map, and it's quite cool). But then you loose all the aiming HUD in vehicles ! Which is quite dumb i must say ^^.

Would be really great if we could tweak this in portal, and it would be a very easy quick thing for EA to change.

  • Hey @VRACinque ,

First of all, thanks for the translation as I wasn't sure what that meant either but figured that's what it was.

I agree wholeheartedly with you.  I would love this level of customization to the HUD, markers, minimap, etc.  I really do hope they put the effort into Portal to try and make it the best it can be despite the rest of BF2042's problems.

It's funny, you would think an official EA forums called Answers HQ would be the place to get and share solutions /idea between fans, etc. but sadly, this forum has devolved into an incessant, personal, back and forth bickering match between critics and defenders of the game. It's a joke.

My suggestion would be to start following Justin Wiebe on Twitter from ripple Effect.  He's been a bit quiet lately but has been engaging Portal fans, reading Tweets and responding with inside info, etc.  Personally, I would share this info with him.  Sometimes he responds, sometimes he doesn't but he obviously reads the feedback. He apparently brings up these ideas and suggestions he reads about to the group.

There is also a subReddit for Portal I have found fairly helpful.  Folks there share information, tips, etc. although I'm not sure if it is monitored by anyone at RE.  ......may be worth posting there though too just in case.

    Anyhow, hope that helps.
