Having a squad size of >5 is bad from a gameplay perspective as those squads are hard to impossible to wipe to clean up an area/flag. So I say 4 is OK, 5 might be better, 6 is pushing it (too far IMO) and >7 would be a very bad choice.
What is definitely needed is the ability to create bigger parties with all players that want to play together. They should then be put on the same server of course when MM is started. For us, a party size of 10 would be enough. But I don't think there should be any limit as far as party size is concerned. But what is also needed is of course squad management tools in order for those players to rearrange themselves into the correct squads after they are finally on the server. But at least this was already confirmed to be on the horizon for S5.
Another example why his edition of Battlefield was meant to be hazard zone, in which case you can't have more then 4

Don't think I have seen anything which resembles a coordinated squad in 2042
Squad leader is irrelevant outside of another spawn point. This game just wasn't built to be a squad based tactical shooter

Even when I had four online friends who played this game and were willing to squad up, it was almost impossible to play cohesively. Even something as seemingly innocuous as the ability to sprint like Usain Bolt means that you very quickly end up separated by over 200m.
