@thieves1988As of right now, you cannot opt out of using the AI soldiers in multiplayer.

CAN YOU COMPLETELY OPT-OUT OF USING AI SOLDIERS?
In the All-Out Warfare set of experiences of Conquest and Breakthrough, AI Soldiers are used to backfill servers and you cannot opt-out of playing with them. However, there is a cap to how many of them you can encounter in a multiplayer match. In general, you will not experience more AI soldiers than players unless the match is still filling-up, or almost empty. Players will always have matchmaking priority over AI. - Gattlin4 years agoRising Vanguard
would be nice in portal to have opt out on AI completely
I just hope there is a easy way to determine whether a server is full of people or full of bots. The bots were not good and very unsatisfying to play with.
I for one intend to 'program' my suggested Portal servers to only have AI Soldiers in the game to start up a given server!
Aka, if we need minimum 4 players to start a game server, then max 3 AI soldiers should suffice. This should help to get any server going and as soon as a real human player joins, then he/she takes the place of one of the remaining AI soldiers.
And its only if the server starts running empty that any AI soldier will backfill. So if any of the teams gets below 2 human players, then an AI soldier will be inserted.
Agreed with previous poster, that ideally we should be able to see on the server browser how many AI soldiers are present on the servers before we join!
I understand where you guys are coming from but we need a choice. I’m probably in the minority of the people who don’t want bots. I want to play with actual human beings and not an artificial intelligence…. Like I said we need a choice.

@thieves1988 "When creating Experiences, you can also add AI Soldiers as a team or select to use them as backfill, meaning when you launch the experience, AI will fill out that match (though you can opt out of using AI Soldiers entirely in Battlefield™ Portal)."
So Yes you can disable bots but you have to do it for your own Portal Server or join one where they are already disabled.
However I won't be doing that since them finally adding AI Soldiers is the reason I bought the Ultimate Edition to show my support for them 🙂
Using AI permanently sounds to be like a forced experience to play with 128 people.
I'm not sure where the hype for 128 people per server comes from. I don't think it's very special and if the gunplay sucks, playing with 127 others doesn't really make it up for me.
Simply being able to opt-out from it sounds like a no-brainer for me. I'm glad it's possible in Portal and I hope they make it possible for 2042 too. I mean, do you see AI driving in a C4 jeep already? Nah. Will they be able to drive vehicles? Probably poorly at best. Imagine having to wait for a tank to spawn and then a bot enters it instead. I'm getting a little frustrated just writing it already.
If the Devs are worried about filling servers then they really shouldn't have jumped on the 128 player band wagon. I know it makes good PR, but not if a few months in half the servers are 50% full of AI. They would have been better off maybe just increasing to 80 or 90, but then I guess people would complain it wasn't enough.
As an aside, how would people feel if the game merged servers to make 128 real players. Not saying that's logistically easy, but what about the principal of at the end of a round having say 3 not full servers merged into two full or near as, severs?
I’m perfectly fine with AI in Portal since that is more of a custom mode. What I don’t want is AI in the main modes like Conquest, Rush, etc.
I mean we’re getting a cross-platform game which means that PS players can play with Xbox and PC players… so DICE shouldn’t be worried about a lack of people in a server.
Giving the player base more options is allways a good thing for a game. We must have the option to tick a little box and show us servers with or without bots. This is a pretty big thing for myself as i have no urge what so ever to play vs AI and without that option i can honestly say i probably wont buy this game. just my opinion but this is a pretty big deal breaker for me i dont buy these games to play vs the computer i want the challenge of playing against people and all the random crap that comes with it.
