The Beta Bf4 was not a better. I rememer too many bugs and crashing and also after full release.
- @IIPrest0nII Agreed. People need to chill out. Y’all sound dumb as hell, talking about how you’re a ‘battlefield vet’ since whatever game (no one cares), but can’t appreciate the difference between a game that has been polished to a mirror shine over 7(ish) years vs a game that is still in development.
- kregora5 years agoSeasoned Ace@IIPrest0nII I am one of the many people that didn't comment on actual gameplay issues during the Technical Playtest, because it was the universal opinion that is what the Beta was for. So now we are at a point where we can't discuss the gameplay, because this build is a more stable version of the Technical Playtest build, but only a small set of bugs has been fixed.
So most criticism is conceptional rooted, and I think its valid to compare concepts of a unreleased game to a released game, especially when they are supposedly both part of the same brand. I definitely agree with you.
@IIPrest0nIIyup, I clearly remember BF4 beta and launch, one of the darkest times for the franchise
the game is good right now, but comparing this to BF4 beta?, not even close to that mess
maybe the ones comparing it to beta remember the reveal live full games, that event was amazing and I wish it happened againYou raise a valid point if I was dogging on bugs and lack of polish, which I'm not. Imagine if you will a racing game like (insert popular franchise here) suddenly gutting vehicle controls and rebinding them to some alien layout- that's a flaw in my opinion. And that's all this is, my opinions. In YOUR opinion the gripes of veteran players are dumb, but in the majority opinion it's been a common flaw on a multitude of threads. I appreciate your viewpoint but I would ask that you respect other people and their views here, please. Name calling doesn't lend itself to reasonable discussion.
I personally tried to get into the beta. I experimented with different controls and layouts, tried every vehicle and combination as well; the new layouts are trash. YES, this build is "months old" according to the devs and maybe adding a "veteran" layout wasn't worth the effort at the time, but that strikes me as a developer oversight especially when it comes to things like flight in the choppers. But that's an opinion I hold, along with enough people that I hope it's taken into account and added as they polish the game further. There's a great comment talking about how someone believes its a good way to grab new player, and that perhaps portal is where the 'veteran' players will end up living. If I can link it I will, it was well reasoned and well written!
Thank you everyone so far for your input, it's nice to see other people's views and complaints or things they enjoyed as the thread grows.

I Completely Agree !!!
At least some here knows and accepts the truth 🙂
BF4 was not "polished over 7 years" - it had a lot of patches in the first 2 years then they didnt care for it anymore - just like all other BF's and those to come.
The only thing added to BF4 was new maps (DLC's with new weapons too).
Telling people they sound dumb because they dont like the settings in the new BF makes you the winner of a donkey medal, I totally agree to not change things that
works - like key settings already implemented through other BF's - players would feel more at ease with a new game if a few routines were kept from older games.
I played the beta on a friends PC simply because mine can barely run it. Im not impressed by the settings, I dont care about the GFX yet as it IS a beta and lots can happen
on that account, Helis (little boy) is now so godly they easily go 100/1 - sniperscopes ?? wheres the mildots ?? ahh, I see what you did there DICE, you dont want real sniping from long
distance but only COD sniping within 2 meters quickscoping ..... the tanks are so bad they remind me of that futuristic failure tank from BF4's latest DLC that acted like a drunk rhino.
I could go on, but get the point, its the gamesettings and gameplay not the GFX they molested.
So you just suck up to the EA employees here on site, it wont change the fact that DICE FUBAR for the third time in a row.
BF4 will survive BF2042 simply because we got rented servers.
- @0ld_yell0w I'm not calling people dumb for 'not liking the settings' (please show me where I said that). I'm calling people dumb for comparing a game that has had multiple patches (sorry I'm not up to date on patch dates) since it was released and became a great game, to a game that is still in development...not appreciating that difference makes you dumb. This is pretty obvious stuff here.
Not sucking up to EA, I have my own bones to pick, I just don't sit in the "the sky is falling" circle * like a lot of you. - Jesse1655 years agoSeasoned Ace

So... You mean the thing that is worse than Portal that you have to pay extra for every time you want to create a server to play on?
At least with Portal we won't have to pay extra for them AND we will have a lot more Options and Settings than you ever will with your paid servers 🙂
@Jesse165 and you already know Portal is better because ? You are praising a feature you know nada about. But of course DICE always delivered in the latest 2 games. The ideal way would have been a mix. You could Portal and we who wanted rentals could have that, it would still be you own choice where you wanted to play. It all boils down to " we listen to the community" .. no they dont. they run their own agenda all the way, which would be fine if they admitted it. It been like that after bf4 .
I remember most BF games being somewhat broken on launch. DICE revamped a lot and it's going to take a while to smooth out the wrinkles. BF4 is still massively unbalanced in Helicopters and some tank gadgets. A few updates and patches and I'm sure the community will find something else to whine about.
@IIPrest0nII wrote:Funny to see how people compares polished Battlefield 4 and Battlefield 2042 Beta that isn't even an actual build. Why don't you compare BF4 Beta and BF2042 Beta. I perfectly remember how BF4 Beta was and it wasn't better than BF2042 Beta.
Happens every Beta test.

Battlefield 4 was the most broken BF game on release. 😇
BF3 beta was probably the worst one. How many people remember falling through the map lol.

How about you try watching this great overview about what we will be getting with Portal.
You might actually learn something that is true for once 🙂 Was never a fan of battlefield 4 due to it being so buggy.
After a weekend of the beta I never really felt it was trying to copy call of duty but more like it was trying to copy hardline and it felt like hardline
@Jesse165 the official glamour video that dorsnt show anything settings wise ? uhmm.. what should I learn from that ? we are still in the dark towards how-to....
@emerson1975 I dont get your comment because bf4 came before hardline ?
Myself I never fancied "cops & robbers" but that part is purely a personal pref.
- @0ld_yell0w Just saying I don’t like to compare this beta to bf4 because I never really played enough of it but it felt more like hardline than call of duty to me

Exactly! BF4 was an unplayable train wreck when it came out. Took them time but they fixed it. And now people say it's the best BF ever. So isn't it possible that they fix 2042 and it becomes a very good game? Definitely possible.
Bf4 beta was better. But regardless, I can push through the crappy performance. But it’s the game UI and style that is not battlefield. It’s battle royal. Where are the endless weapon customizations. Where’s the team play. Where’s the squad up? Where’s the game modes? Where’s the servers to hang out in?
back to the performance though. Saying it’s ok to release and charge more than reasonable price for an unfinished product is not cool. Would you let your mechanic do that? Restaurant? Would you accept a half cooked burger missing the bun and fries if the server said, “come back in a few months and it might be better”.
