Yes. Both BF3 and BF4 had an issue where some sounds were only heard if they were in the player's field of vision.
I am extremely disappointed in what I often can not hear in this game combined with the limited usage of the Dual Sense haptics on PS5 that fail to alert me of sudden danger from large threats.
However what is audible sounds great. Same as in previous titles.
