it should probably still be in the game. personally i never liked clans as they were pretty * to deal with in regards to them just coming into a server and pubstomping it. didn't make for a great game experience for someone who doesn't want to be in a clan with (in my experience) a bunch of people with a fratboy attitude towards others. plus the way the game is constructed right now how would you even keep a clan together on the same server? once you got them there you'd have to do it all again after the game ended cause the server gets disbanded.
tl;dr: it's been a thing and should be allowed. the way the game is set up it wouldn't work now (no persistent servers, can only keep 4 people together at a time). clans resorted to pubstomping way too often instead of playing other clans

We played other clans on our own server instance. Managed by us, set to private, protected with password, in an organized way.
Try to figure out why this is not an option anymore.
But that was MANY years ago, when we were younger. Now we are all >40, many of us over 50 years old, slower and most of the time we are lucky if we can fill two squads.
But indeed, the sole motivation many of us now have to play Battlefield is to chat with each other via TeamSpeak WHILE playing a game at the same time. We also try our best to be good at the game, but even with 8 or so of us we still lose if we are in a bad team. You can't win a game with 8 average players, even if they are organized and communicating and even if we are the best squad. Maybe we are just too bad. But to be honest, the ONLY reason to play is the friends to play together with. On my own I would NEVER play Battlefield. But this is not the fault of BF2042 as this was the same for older titles. It is a game that you play together with friends or not at all. I am aware that many players out there have a different view. This is mine, but I share that view with most if not all of my clan mates. - @DuaneDibbley Yep agreed with that. Maybe it would be a max-party-size for the different sized games. 32 players max = 4, 64 players = 8, 128 = 16. Which means that no more than a quarter of the total team players (assuming all on the same team) will be possibly cooperating.
- @DuaneDibbley that kind of clan play is all good. the kind i didn't like were the clans that would go into a public server and just destroy the experience for random solo players
like i said, it should still be in the game i just didn't personally like it. when we had a server browser it was easy enough to avoid though. - @Psubond That’s very good for recruitment though, I agree it was bad. We’d get accused of that in ATF sometimes, then they’d see how we sucked and we’re fine with it lol. ATF was a mature clan to begin with, just having fun with games and some pops, although we did field a couple of decent comp teams for BC2 and BF3. Good times. 2042 will never be able to welcome clans without a server browser, even if they don’t have rentable servers. They really need to bring back both to help their numbers. In V I kept having the wrong emblem. I discovered the old Platoon from 4 was still active, I had to go in there and turn it off to change to my emblem instead of the platoon emblem. So it still exists.

Not having a server browser or even a heads up about whether BF2042 will get one in the future is a big turn off for most players.
