Re: EA Anticheat and Battlefield 2042

from a post of mine on the BFV forums...

"A quick scan of EA patents (source: https://companyprofiles.justia.com/company/electronic-arts) reveal the following:

Secure anti-cheat system
Granted Oct 1, 2019

An anti-cheat system may be accessed over a network and stored directly into volatile memory of a user computing system. In some embodiments, this anti-cheat system may scan, or access portions of, the volatile memory of the user computing system to detect whether cheat software or other unauthorized software that may interact with a game application is detected on the user computing system. The accessed portions of the volatile memory may be compared with one or more signatures that are associated with the execution of cheat software on a computing system. The anti-cheat system may be prevented from being stored within non-volatile memory, thereby preventing malicious users from modifying the anti-cheat system.
I’m hoping that the lack of feedback from EA is that they plan to release a new AC soon-ish.

Other patents of interest:

-Game Quality-centric matchmaking for online gaming (self explanatory)
-Incentivizing users to alter virtual item balances in an online game (dynamic assignments?)
-Machine-learning based anomaly detection for heterogenous data sources (self-healing games?)
-Systems and methods for generating a compilation reel in game video (like memories on Facebook)
-Multiplayer video game matchmaking system and methods (self explanatory)"

Seems like EA have been actively developing this patent. Interested to see have they are going on the other patents mentioned!

@Lancelot_du_Lac SBMM Has been in 2042 since launch, it's the reason why people will never get their precious server browser back. Mods have denied SBMM. Then I presented them with parents from EA website and they said EA is not using those systems. EVEN THOUGH they have been caught red handed all the way in BF1 giving new players higher damage compared to others. I believe Danny made a video about it showing M1911 2-tapping people in the body.

ANYWAY - Kernel level anti cheat has been in COD for a while now and working very well. So I don't see why Xbone and PS won't allow it. If that what it takes to keep the game cheater free and fair, so be it. It doesn't bother me in the slightest.

@UP_LordPlumberNot giving kernel-access on consoles is logical, it makes sense security-wise and business-wise. The amount of on-line-cheating would probably 'explode', if they opened for this.

But both Sony and MS should be able to detect 'special input-devices' (if COD can, they can as well), and they should allow multiplayer-games to block players from using 'special input devices'.
