Honestly it's hard to think that ANYONE would believe the statement like 'The damage buff for low rank players was unintentional, caused by a bug and was fixed by a backend patch'. 😉

This sentence contains THREE things that are wrong, two of them so obviously wrong to anyone working in the field like the statement 'The earth is flat' (even though I read that there are still some people that think that this is the case).

    Well, in general and as far as bugs are concerned, that is true. 😉

    But an increase in damage dealt by low rank players needs a rank threshold value in your code which HAS to be put there intentionally. There is NO WAY that this could be there 'by accident'.

    The second thing is the client side damage calculation to be 'fixed' with a backend (read server side) patch alone is also not possible -- unless all the damage calculation would be done server side and not only hit confirmation as it's currently implemented in BF2042.

    Ok now that we have gone past that. I do not know what caused what but it is not easy to tell when something is intended or an oversight in Buggfield.

    Well, the only thing we know for a fact -- as there is video evidence of it -- is that this existed in BF1 and was later removed.

    Nobody tested this so far if it currently exists in BF2042 or is just a feeling we have when getting killed by low rank players. In the past, you could check the scoreboard to see the percentage of low rank players on the server to get some insight into the prior (in case you want to approach this the 'Bayesian way' 😉 ). But let's agree the posterior is suspiciously high. :P

    Just had it happen again, level 10 should have been dead but no just keeps on shooting me. Is there any way i can pull my tickrate graph from a previous game? this will prove that this level ten took way more damage than any normal player. I purposely went after this player so it happened 3 times.

    I believe in you guys. , Put yourself in the new player's shoes. Buy the game up to 2 years after launch (obviously there are many high skilled players on the server with you ) and you always get ya * handed to you on a plate, 9 people out of 10 will prob uninstall and move on very quickly. *Therefore potentially losing a paying customer skin packs etc. *So the reason in my eyes is to give the new guy a little boost for a little while then he may enjoy and be willing to part with his cash for skins etc.

    Yes I know this hasn't been proven and has gone very quiet of recent but I too still have the same issues with low level players 

    My post is not to point fingers or accuse anyone of the above but this is MY VIEW & IS PURE SPECULATION on this matter

    Been seeing it alot lately in July 2025... EA is doing something so the new players do not get discouraged, but they did not earn it like we had to.  EA wants to keep the platform alive and to keep selling the game.  I see it all the time GETTING waxed by a level 7 4 times in a row all the while shot a full mag into him,,,,, And I die.
