Re: Please rate the seven BF2042 maps in order of preference

I play Breakthrough and Conquest mainly. I will rank and give you my reasoning.
1. Manifest - I really like the mix of cover and elevation while vehicles and aircraft are not too overpowered. There aren't many spots for camping vehicles to wreck you. The flow and the objectives are solid, and I like the environment with the darkness. Grappling Hook and Wing Suit can be used.
2. Orbital - I like most of the objectives, and there is decent cover on the wooded side of the map. The area between the rocket facility and the launchpad is the only area I don't like. You are a sitting duck as infantry there. A few more containers or small buildings would do the trick.3. Discarded - I like the cover that the ships provide and depending on the map size, I like going from sparsely wooded areas to the ships. A little bit of a snipe fest, but again some nice elevation changes with the height of the ships.
4. Renewal - This map has some potential, but some of the points, especially in Breakthrough, could be improved. Especially the spawn point for attackers at the start of the round. I would add some additional vegetation to the green side, and a few more smaller hills on the desert side.
5. Breakaway - Too much wide open space on the snow and ice, and places for vehicles (and snipers) to camp. They didn't incorporate the mountaintop objective as they showed in the trailer videos. They should've had a facility at the bottom with an elevator up to the top. It seems like the oil rig was the focus.I have two maps tied for last, both very similar:
7T. Kaleidoscope - Another map with a lot of potential, but in its current state, it is terrible. You go from wide-open spaces, to skyscrapers with nothing in between. They have the elevators down to the roads below, but those are irrelevant to the map objectives. They should've had some additional tunnels from there leading to the buildings. They also need more cover or vegetation like they had in the art drawings.7T. Hourglass - The only area I enjoy is the stadium but that is only used in Conquest. This is very similar to Kaleidoscope where you go from sand to skyscrapers. Way too little cover in the sand and the skyscrapers have you either on the ground or on top of them with no in-between. All the buildings should be open and some additional floors should be accessible. I guess they have never been to Doha, because they should've added the Souqs and had Bazaar-like fighting with confined spaces and cover for infantry. That would've been a lot more fun than this.
Final Note reply: They need to add more infantry-focused maps in the next release. They still can have vehicles and aircraft, but give infantry more cover between points and some points that restrict vehicle access.
Thanks for the very detailed reply it is a good read.
I note your 2 least favorites match mine and your reasoning echos my own thoughts as to why.
