Being able to spawn on any squad mate means squad wipes are more important and bigger squads would obviously make those far more difficult. Imagine trying to clear a flag and your squad kills 5 players but the other 3 survive long enough for them to spawn back in and you could be back to square one.
Good point, well presented that I bet few have thought about!
I do feel that 5 is an ideal middle ground and 'feels right'.
