SWS Subsonic Ammo Desperately Needs a Buff
This could apply to subsonic ammo across the board, but the most egregious offender is the poor SWS.
So in a surprising twist in this latest update, something actually was done right. The new bolt action sniper rifle, the XCE, is actually usable with subsonic rounds.
The SWS on the other hand is not. With any suppressor other than wrapped, a headshot will only do enough damage to kill in roughly a hundred meters. The XCE can kill at any range with any suppressor and subsonics.
The damage is also so miserable on the SWS that it will take up to 4 body shots to kill depending on range, even with the wrapped suppressor. The XCE can still comfortably 2 shot with any suppressor.
To top it all off, the SWS gets a measly 22 rounds of subs total. XCE? Gets 30, and it can shoot them faster.
Funny thing is, all of the stats in the weapon screen that would affect damage are HIGHER on the SWS than the XCE. But it performs worse.
Is this some kind of bad joke? Why is this ammo so garbage on this gun? There is no good reason for it to be this bad on this one weapon, or bad in general. The benefit of hidden tracers on a sniper rifle is so marginal it's sad, considering that any magnification above 3.5x will add a massive glint that anyone on the map can see regardless of tracers. Even with hidden tracers, there is next to no benefit, since while initially your position may be concealed from the enemy team, the second you kill someone, your exact location gets pinged for an entire squad, completely negating any positive the ammo might give.
Subsonic rounds in general are horribly neglected, at least excepting LMGs or assault rifles. Horrible damage, awful range, reduction in velocity... Why are these even in the game if they are so bad? Hell, the poor "k30" Vector only gets 20 of them in a magazine. And it fires at 1100 rounds per minute. The entire magazine is empty in a second.
Please, Dice. Give them some love.
