Take away the ability to earn xp for 2042 in Portal.

Is the OP being the Reverse Psychology Man?

I just don't see why it is part of Portal.
Why is it?
It gives an excuse to abuse XP earing in the 2042 game.
You can play a 1942, BF3 hybrid & earn XP for your character...why?

Just throwing the idea out there.

So part of a full priced game should not give you any sort of progress as there is no progress element to it similar to what it was a few weeks ago? Lol

If there was no XP earned from day 1, would players have complained?

IMO, no.

Why/who would complain about the change?.... those most likely using it to rank up quicker.

In Portal, your rank is of no benefit. IMO.

Portal in it self is a stand alone gaming experience.
Deployed with 2042 on launch was a bonus.

They are 2 different beasts, one does not depend on the other.

2 different games for the one price.

Would we have bought Portal as a separate game?... I might have.... if it also had some improvements before deployment. lol

I am grateful it was included.... so many options for those with a creative mind to share their creations.

I assume you are trolling. But just in case you are not:, there are several reasons that come to mind, the most important and relevant ones are:

1) Portal is one of 3 parts of the game that was sold for up to over 100EUR/USD

2) Portal was advertised explicitly to have full XP that is shared with the other modes

In the end, YOU not understanding why other players should not have XP awarded and progression working in Portal is exactly zero reason why this should not work as advertised.

Sorry OP buy I think that would just push more players away from Portal.

I don't understand why some people worry about how someone else ranks up.  Is there a race to rank up the quickest? An award?  It reminds me of tictoc videos where an employee throws the customers fries back in the oil to heat them up when the customer wanted new fries.  Are you the fry police and is it coming out of your pocket?  No.
