There should be a 2 seater fighter jet, like real life

IRL in fighter jets, it is quite common for a 2 seater fighter jet, so you could have 2 seats on battlefield 2042, one person controlling the jet, and machine guns with lock-on to air vechile missiles, while the passenger has a radar that they can call out to their teammate, making the communication and squad closer together and better, The second person can also maybe control bombs? and/or missile lock-on onto ground vehicles, I feel like this would be a great addition to the game, and would make the teamwork with friends much better, but I see how this also might just act as nothing, since a lot of the time people that aren't in a voice calls together, and just a random people in a squad, wouldn't call things out if so, it would be rare.

But what do you guys think about this idea?

Thanks!

  • They did mention that vehicles will be a lot stronger the more players are inside them like in Battlefield 1 so I presume that translates to jets and larger planes if they are there.

@YT_Positivewhile I like the idea of 2 seater jets, I would prefer it if the pilot retained the air to air weaponry (and air radar because most people aren't going to be using voice chat while playing), while the passenger takes control of all the air to ground weapons (like bombs /tv missile/laser lockon)

    Agreed with both of you!

Also that both soldiers in the cockpit have to have ability to get kills using jet weaponry while being there, or this will lead to frustrated players not caring when spawning in there.  Or just trashing the vehicle after short transport...

I also read somewhere regarding other air vehicles will have more active seats for more collaborating soldiers to join onboard.  Like the epic B-17 bomber that we had in Battlefield 1942 will be there on the Portal !

Whilst I like the idea, my fear is they could be a tad op if we take BF4 jets and simply add a second person for example.

Considering this is set in 2042 and because of modern sensor fusion, data sharing and pilot interface, 2 seat jets are quickly becoming a thing of the past.

Hey there @YT_Positive A two-seater fighter jet? Love the idea! This would definitely add to the dogfights.

Thank you for sharing this feedback with the community💪🏽

single-seater jets tend to be better for dogfights

2-seaters are usually more multirole, like bf 2 SU-34 / F-15E strike Eagle. Heavier, less maneuverable, more fighter-bomber than fighter.

There are more life support systems and similar that do not make 2-seaters exactly suited for dogfighting. Especially when there is a single-seater version of same aircraft.

YOu could compare say SU-30 with 35S, though the comparison isnt quite fair, because 35S has more powerful/newer engines and more.

There's an awkwardness isn't there with near future scenarios and the way tech is creating distance between combatants. I wonder how much combat is resolved well before fighters get the chance to merge.- difficult to balance in an FPS game.

I was thinking if sensor fuzed weapons were going to feature somewhere in BF2042 - but then remembered there is no GPS support in our 2042 world.
