Overall I love the idea of the vault weapons, and I hope we keep seeing more in the future. However, I do wish they got a little more love. Very limited attachment options (even more so than the original games they come from) and no cosmetic options makes vault weapons feel much less satisfying to use compared to the 2042 weapons. I'll briefly add my thoughts on the current set (as of 3.1) based on my experience with them:
M1911: its fine, but painfully so. Clunky irons and inconsistent spread makes it feel unreliable with ADS, and since it cannot get a laser hipfire feels inaccurate too. As with every BF3 vault weapon the suppressor is basically a downgrade.
M93R: no reason to use this because G57 burst fire is better in every way.
REX: I like the rex, but it has chunky irons and doesn't feel like it has perfect first shot accuracy so range isn't exactly the best for it. I mostly use it close quarters hipfire to quickly finish someone off.
M16A3/M416: grouping these together because they behave very similar and mostly boil down to preference. They're good, but suffer from having very inconsistent feeling recoil. The spread is more accurate to how bullet spread worked in BF3/4 (choosing a random direction to sway to), but that makes them feel awkward because of it. I like the underbarrel grenade options they have as they perform differently to the 2042 grenade launchers while still being good. The MASS attachments are all worthless, too slow to switch too and abysmal damage for their sluggish fire rate. With a little love to their spread I think they will be on par with the 2042 ARs.
AN-91: fun little guy, but the attachment options are so limited that it doesn't have anything to make it stand out. The AM40 can do the job better for the role of a compact high rate-of-fire AR.
ACW-R: oh how the mighty have fallen, used to be an amazing option in older games and in 2042 it just feels terrible. Low ammo, low damage, weird spread, and a weirdly low rate of fire compared to how it was in the previous games.
P90: alright, but has a lot of recoil and shot deviation compared to other SMGs. It's perfectly serviceable but outclassed by the PP-29 for the role of high-capacity SMG in my opinion.
AKS: thoroughly underwhelmed. Funny that it boasts a high rate of fire in the description but has one of the lowest in the SMG class. Not sure if its the low damage output or the recoil but it just doesn't feel great to use.
M60E: straight downgrade to the M240B in every way. The nerf this thing got was justified but now it is just outclassed.
M240B: Love this thing, like all vault weapons the spread is a little jank but it does a great job at being a longer range LMG option.
XM8: my favorite vault weapon right here. Good rate of fire, easier to control compared to other vault weapons, and offers something the other LMGs can't by having a quicker reload through the drum mag. Wish it had more attachment options though.
GOL: another great vault weapon. Very agile and aggressive sniper rifle that boasts a faster ADS time than the others. I wish it had more scope options and I agree it does need more reserve ammo.
