It does seem that way - I struggled initially with the high number of vehicles too - but there are ways to address this by changing a few player behaviours.
First of all, the game practically throws vehicles at you. A couple of kills will let you call in a light vehicle. This is the easiest way to move between flags - it's a lot harder for a tank or infantry to kill you when you're travelling at 80km/h. Don't walk between flags. You'll usually die.
All maps have flags that are inaccessible to vehicles or downright dangerous for them to approach - Hourglass has A2 and A3, for instance. Orbital has D1/D2, where tanks and Wildcats go to die. Manifest has C1 and D1. These flags are spaces for infantry only/vehicle-light gameplay and can be a lot of fun. As I said, every map has these flags.
Finally, if you can't beat 'em, join 'em: The M5C Bolte is a thing of beauty.
Vehicle and Helicopters kills the game for me

Just remember if you use the vehicle just to taxi, you're giving the enemy a free vehicle from your team's vehicle limit. Noticed so many times that enemies will abandon their vehicles on the objective only for me to grab it and limit their ability to spawn more vehicles.
- ATFGunr4 years agoLegend@JicoteaEpilepTK ?? Vehicles is part of what makes Battlefield different than COD. With the increase in map sizes, is your preference to walk? Imagine the walk between points in a conquest map, nobody to shoot at, and just as you get close BAM, sniped. Engineers need something to shoot at… or at least players who run with rockets now that classes are dead. There’s other posts talking about combined arms, and they’re bang on the mark. Adapt and overcome, try running with a Soflam, you’ll rack up so many points you’ll love vehicles 😉

You should probably play another game or get better at coping with vehicles. Battlefield has always featured vehicles that can kill infantry.
- @JicoteaEpilepTK Battlefield is suposed to be a combines arms game wich mean air , ground , infantry .. Its tiresome to see the BF3 aka call of duty community alwsys try to push Battlefield into infantry only arena snall scale shooter ..
Also there is a pletora of wat to deal with vehicles and it aint " easy " to " farm " even average players ... From EMP to emp drones to Rao hacks to air , ground , stinger , M5 rocket , C4 , and more keeping a vehicle alive aint easy at all ... @EchoBeachBattlefield is a combine arms game not an Arena shooter
- ATFGunr4 years agoLegend@Stew360 To be fair though, 2042 seems to be an arena shooter with vehicles…. 🤣

We have 128 players and at least 100 are infantry. It is an infantry-based game with vehicles on top.
The vehicles are way to dominant in 2042. This is partly due to the maps being really bad (no cover) and partly because some of the vehicles are too mobile and have overpowered weapons (mostly the nightbird and the bolte).
Finally, working audio would help a lot. Too often you get killed by "silent" vehicles. If infantry could hear the vehicles they could at least try to take cover (if the map has any).
Combined warfare is special for BF, but at the moment vehicles are more or less 'random-death-generators', which kills the fun of playing infantry
@cso7777Vehicles are fine on 64 player and generally don't last long if they don't retreat using a tiny bit of coordination among team players.
I would imagine with twice as many infantry running around in 128 player, most vehicles are easily taken care of apart from the exceptions to the rule who know how to survive in top tier vehicles for long periods.
