The compromise for a longer timer would be -again speaking for tanks since last time I played they were and probably are still stupidly under tuned- would be they need to be harder to kill, otherwise you're just asking essentially for an infantry only experience, clearly the Bolte is still an issue with folks but this does not mean smash every vehicles numbers with a nerf bat because of 1 ground platform. -No fun allowed unless you're infantry- is not the way to look at this, please keep in mind this IS still supposed to be... and I say supposed to very loosely at this point, a combined arms game.
No one seems to like to talk about the power projection of infantry short respawn times, and spawning on any squad mate. anywhere at almost any time -short "in combat" timer- with any particular set of weapons and gadgets or flying squirrel suits or w/e that is needed. Want a meaningful feeling for a ground push? Remove hp regen across the board, this is for vehicles and infantry, remove spawning on any squad member and restrict it back to being the squad leader only who can be spawned on post round start -as in you can still spawn in on squadmates vehicles at the start of the round-.
The ammo limitation would def cut down on how overbearing some platforms currently are and would 100% support it going back to something like this, less spam, more reliance on folks that want to actually play a team oriented game as opposed to trying to be every superheros in existence combined into 1 person.
and that's my weekly input, but again still no signs of meaningful change.
@Anti-Tank-KillerIf they made the vehicles limited on ammo I think the timers would be fine. The reason I mention timers is because you can literally spawn a tank on the roof top of a 100 story building. I think vehicles should only spawn and home base or at a captured point that has stayed captured (without being lost) for a set period of time.
I love playing in tanks because I can sit in one for practically the whole game without getting killed. Once you have the auto repair ability on a vehicle you can be pretty hard to destroy unless someone with C4 gets to you or a Jet/Heli takes you out. I just want to add a more realistic feel to the BF experience, this means once vehicles are taken out its going to take some time before they are back in action on the same part of the field. I think the Ammo resupply alone could make this 10x better.

Either way I get the displeasure of the ominous roof tank, but sadly I also feel your desire for this BF to have more believable realism elements is going to leave you disappointed even further.
I miss actually relying on infantry and infantry relying on vehicle support and being an actual force multiplier and just having wicked fun firefights,and 'oh hey enemies holed up in that building hey Mr.Tank we cant punch through their entrenched position can you please soften them up so we can go in there and eat their eyes?' what we have now is just... no. I want fun infantry play, and fun vehicle play and there to be some sort of synergy again but right now everyone is just a body and everyones just on farm mode. It's really sad and boring.
But I digress, yes ammo limit, good, hp regen for all, bad.
