A down to earth military shooter which leaves you alone to play the game. With maps with the space and freedom to play how you want.
I expected this game to build on the map design of the pacific from V, be more open with lots of cover and less pressure to perform than the rest of V and battlefield 1 (my favourite).
So like 3/4 where you could stick to your preferred positions and not have to be best player or feel like you were letting your team down if you chilled a bit more.
But didn't buy this 1, looks like an apex upsell, really bad beta, weirdly empty looking maps, matchmaking rather than team shuffle, micro management with the weekly rewards nonsense and temporary content.
Also spotting is important to me, too shy to communicate but need teammates. But that's why you expect portal and things like hardcore mode. For clans etc.
I first played battlefield 1942 at a counterstrike LAN party. Beer, steaks, raffles * prizes, more booze, Indian curries and 48 hours of counterstrike competitions, with a healthy mix of racing games and of course Battlefield.
the emphasis on how we played counterstrike was very much about the team. The team was all, you played as a team or not at all.
so with that backdrop Battlefield was adopted for while. Though never completely took over CS. Other players preferred arma, setting up scenarios. So the more sim like experiences. Though not as much as say Squad.
But the early battlefield sort of sat in the middle. It had team goals, which was the staple of what we wanted in a game. It had vehicles which was great, and more of a sim like experience. The key was everyone could jump into a game and not worry about overly complex scenarios, or simulation controls, and rounds didn’t last to long.
I guess you could describe it as the perfect Arcade War Sim.

So battlefield to me is all about the team, working together.
which BF2042 has ding none of because every single feature that allowed you to function as a team, practice as a team, build a team, has been removed. And it’s sht.
