@rippedwire01 Technically I don't mind if a Takedown is 3rd person or 1st person, if the implementation works consistently and is not stupid.
Currently the implementations only work from directly behind the target, when it is mostly unmoving.
And the 3rd person implementation always assumes, that the target is standing.
Every condition outside of these requirements make the 3rd person Takedown either an inconsistent hack and slash, or stupid, by first moving the target into the standing position. Which results that targets in the more vulnerable stances - kneeling and prone - have a higher probability to be saved by a teammate.
All Battlefield 4 Takedowns are more consistent and less stupid that the BF2042 Takedowns, and I actually don't care if its shown to me in 1st or 3rd person.
With the only issue of the buggy camera positioning of the 3rd person Takedown, where I think that there are more pressing issues needs fixing than to waste time on this.
To me either bf1 or bfv could be considered pinnacles of Battlefield takedowns.
I cannot speak much about bfv, but the times that I did perform takedowns they were smooth and the first person animations were great. I mention bfv because it seems like it is just like bf1, if not slightly improved
I adore bf1 takedowns. They worked consistently and the animations were brutal. It really fit the game and it was fun to do

Bet you didn't adore being on the wrong end of one though. 😬
- Psubond4 years agoLegend@rippedwire01 brutal is the word i would use to describe BF1 takedowns as well, especially when using a club. speaking of battlefield 1, did we ever figure out if the stick grenade club could go boom?

The dud club does indeed explode. Though I have no idea if it exploding is probability based or condition based.
