@RitualMurdererto make changes to any file, first you need to check the hash and the data table with the patch (to do this, you need to read all the files, find the ones you need, and then apply the changes to them at the end - overwrite them). This is how it is done in many games. The update may be 5GB, but it affects a lot of different files and asking for 4 times more space than the patch itself.
Here's an example SSD - read speed 1.2 GB/s. Sometimes it was 2.4 GB/s.
