beta is still coming in September afaik so hands-on gameplay is weeks away.
I expect the game is less finished at launch than it would be otherwise because of the pandemic.

I expect it on time and will have the usual bugs, performance problems, balance issues between weapons, classes and vehicles. Then months go by before a patch, while the forum goes crazy.
It would not be a BF game without. 🤣🤣🤣
- Jesse1654 years agoSeasoned Ace@SirBobdk The last game I played that wasn't very buggy at launch was Mass Effect Legendary Edition. And even the bugs it did have were mainly small graphic glitches which were fixed pretty quickly.
Just about ALL other games I played at launch were very buggy in one way or another. Not just the last few Battlefield games but ALL games in general by everyone.
So I don't blame them specifically for it as long as they fix as many bugs as possible before launch and focus most on the game breakers.
Will it be buggy at launch? Very possibly YES but it should be fine as long as they are not totally game breaking ones. - 4 years ago

If we disregard BF4, then there have probably not been serious problems with any BF games at launch imo. Most have been around balance and the usual desires for nerf / buff.Exactly. And if balancing is really the only thing we have to worry about than I would count it as a good launch 🙂

Exactly. I love the BF series and know it's never perfect in the beginning, but it's always guaranteed fun. (However not BFV, it never got anything but frustrating).

Don't know about 1942 and Vietnam, I didn't play them at launch. 5 probably took the longest to fix though with new patches (re)introducing game breaking bugs for months.
- Trokey664 years agoSeasoned Ace@Noodlesocks I don't recall BFV being that buggy but then I am old and have slept many times since then......

Honest question: Did you even play BFV? There are still some Bugs that have been there since Launch.

BFV was a mess. They did what they could. 2042 will make up for that mess.
- Trokey664 years agoSeasoned Ace
Not talking about balance issues and accept that V still has bugs (which game hasn't?!) but functionally speaking, BFV's launch wasn't anywhere near as bad as BF4.
Bear in mind that unless objectively broken, many 'balance issues' are subjective and BFV's TTK flip flop is/was a prime example.

Not really much game breaking bugs in BFV.
Think what really annoyed many in the player community was the extreme changes made again and again to the weapon and vehicle balances in the game. And not just a few times or minor adjustments. It was like never ending, again and again. So as soon as you had started to get comfortable with the balances, suddenly everything was literally changed dramatically again. So severe that it was like a whole new game and you had to start from scratch again.
Think that discouraged many players and many left...
- VOLBANKER_PC4 years agoSeasoned Ace@GrizzGolf BFV was not a mess.
BF4 was a mess! I literally had to postpone playing the game for 6 months because of constant crashes + getting permanently stuck on background graphics here and there.
It sounds like you either didn’t play BF4 when it launched or that you have forgotten how bad it was 🙂 - 4 years ago@VOLBANKER_PC yep Bf4 at launch was a mess. Easy 6 months of a mess. The playstation blue screen with error code.....ah yes, fun times.
BF5 had and still has balance issues. A complete mess of a game. A game I will never install again.....yuck - 4 years ago

It's a shame the old forums are gone because it would have the details of all the ridiculous technical issues the game suffered from. A number of which had to be fixed multiple times because they kept coming back with each update. Game was so bad they spent over 6 months on fixing the game alone. It wasn't until the Pacific update that the game got into a decent enough state and it wasn't long after that when the game was finally abandoned.
- ElliotLH4 years agoHero+@Noodlesocks At least we still have the memories from the old forums.
- Trokey664 years agoSeasoned Ace@Noodlesocks I, like many banged out of BFV quite early but because of the Hardcore light approach and not for technical reasons. I genuinely can't remember major technical issues with it that are close to BF4's.

I could quite happily go into a deranged rant about the bugs of BFV. The game actually got worse as time went on.
But from the delayed point of view, BFV had it's beta 1 month before it's release before they put the release back a month. And it still released unfinished with the single player being incomplete and firestorm not existing, then with a tutorial and practice range being added after about a year and the tank body customisations used in the pre launch marketing only being introduced after 2 years. With a map being delayed for over a month due to crashes and a gadget delayed for weeks due to not working only to release broken. Plus many other issues that reoccured.
So with this game having cross play testing put back and then PS5 testing put back and still having a beta 1 month before launch I'm a bit sceptical about it's final release state.
They also haven't mentioned what 1/3rd of the game is yet and I'm not sure which of the 3 bits of the game we'll get to see in beta.
But I would like a PS5 and haven't been able to get 1 so I'm not in a position to play on launch anywho which may work in my favor though I do wanna try the beta on PS4.
I think I'd prefer it to be delayed finished and working and then to keep the base game fairly seperate server wise from future live service additions. Than be in BFV's situation.
BFV's best bit was the pacific which was released practically as a traditional map pack until they took away the option to play the server rotation =\. So I hope the silly design decisions have gone too but I'm nervous about the phrasing around battlepasses which may mean new stuff is time gated behind stupid hoops again.

Going have a little say if it needs a delay then there a good reason hope after release the game will be better for it.
Coding games is not a simple thing i know alot of game devs and a very good friend who been making games since 2003 as just left his job because of the stress levels from making top level triple A titles, so i am with EA DICE if it needs extra time, because its not always about the game.
I have my own game projects and been making something which is on youtube called if yous want to search it "oceanmania part1" make sure to add the part 1
I started this project back in 2017 and was hoping to release it 2019 its still not released ! why because of stupid little things build up to loads.
This project is built inside Trackmania on pc i know this is bit off topic but kind of not as its linked to delays and why i understand why it needs extra time.
little maybe not that little lol

New ForumField is not the same.....It was an odd state of affairs. BF4 started a mess and eventually got good. BFV gradually got worse and worse, technically over the first 6-8 months.

About the 18 second mark.
EDIT: nm, it's just an odd cut.
