This is exactly why I play Irish and tell folks in chat to play Irish if they don't like explosives. He's by far the strongest specialist in the game since he not only negates most explosives, but can keep the infantry push alive via revives and the armor push alive with his trophy system.

It has the same problem back then when the sentinel destroyed rocket pods from the scout heli, they continue to fly through the sentinel and still explode, killing you and the sentinel in the process but you still get points for (to late) destroyed explosives.
There are circumstances where the sentinel destroy zains xm airburst and there are many situations where it does not, it is highly inconsistent.
Trust me when I say this, im an Irish main, almost at 430 mastery

The XM3 has to have its range set on a specific object of cover before it can harm enemies. The main drawback to that is Zain mostly needing to be out of cover himself and in a compromising position aiming down sights to do this.
There is always a high risk that the player aiming this weapon will be killed when trying to do so. Also because of the precise nature of the round being used, it is very easy to miss targets that are too far away or closer than the object marked.
I hated using this weapon when it was released because I died so much trying to get the hang of it. Now that I know what I am doing and understand it's strengths and weaknesses. The XM3 is a very rewarding weapon to use.
Get caught with the XM3 in your hands in close quarters combat and you are toast. Also running backwards or (and I know that people hate to do this on defense) pushing forward when taking damage from this weapon is a direct counter for it.
