Battlefield 2042 Elite Edition – Missing Paid Content and Unusable EA Support
I want to share my experience with Battlefield 2042 Elite Edition and EA Support.
I purchased Battlefield 2042 Elite Edition on Steam. Steam correctly shows that I purchased the Elite Edition, but the additional content included with this edition was not granted to my account. For example, the Forsaken cosmetic set for Rao was missing.
I understand that technical problems can happen. The main reason I am writing this negative feedback is not simply because the content was missing, but because of how EA Support handled the situation.
I contacted EA Support and opened case #255104950. An EA advisor asked me to provide additional information, including my EA account email and Steam display name. Before I was able to provide that information, the advisor ended the chat.
After that, my case remained open with the status "Waiting on Player". However, there was no Resume, Reply, or Continue Chat button. EA was supposedly waiting for my response while giving me no way to actually send that response.
I tried multiple ways to resolve this:
- Opening the case normally through My Cases
- Opening it using the case number and Access Key
- Following the link sent to me by EA via email
- Using another browser
- Using InPrivate mode
- Starting a new support request
- Selecting different support categories
- Using the EA Help assistant
None of this worked. The "Chat with us" option for a new request was also greyed out and unavailable.
I even asked for help here on the EA Forums. At this point, I had spent more time trying to find a way to contact EA Support than actually enjoying the product I had purchased.
I want to make it clear that I do not blame Steam for this situation. Steam correctly recorded my purchase and provided the platform through which I bought the game. My complaint is specifically about EA, the missing Elite Edition content, and EA's support system.
If a customer pays for a special edition of a game and does not receive the advertised content, there should at least be a reliable way to contact support and resolve the issue. Instead, my support chat was ended, my case was left waiting for a response I had no way to send, and every attempt to contact support again led to a dead end.
Because of this experience, I decided to request a refund for Battlefield 2042 Elite Edition. I might have continued playing the game if this issue had been handled properly, but after dealing with EA Support, I no longer wanted to continue.
I hope EA reviews both the missing entitlement issue and the way the EA Help system handles cases after a live chat is ended. A customer should never be left with a case marked "Waiting on Player" while having no way to reply.
