Can't set left yaw for joystick in BF2042 for helicopters or planes, just right

On PC when inputting joystick yaw settings for my t16000M, X and Y axis are fine, but when I try to configure the Z yaw axis, it only recognizes Z+, not Z-, and assigns Z+ to both left and right yaw when I only want it on right yaw. It autopopulates the other axis just fine. As a result, I cannot get good enough yaw control through the keyboard with helicopters to make them usable.
