Print Screen button minimizes game

I am trying to take screenshot of the game, and it used to be just the print screen button, but now every time I press that key, the game minimizes.  Am I missing something?

  • Press the tilde key ~ and type screenshot.render

Screenshots are saved in Documents\Battlefield 2042\Screenshots

Nvidia and Radeon should have built-in screenshot features as well.

This can't be the way to do it.  Print Screen always just took the screenshot in the past....the idea of having to type that out every time to take a screen cap of something that just happened makes no sense.  By the time you think to type all that in, the moment may be over.

I agree and would use Nvidia or Radeon screenshot software instead.

i agree lol, same here  darnt take a screen shot by the time the games maximized again , I'm dead

  • That usually happens when a game runs in exclusive fullscreen, so the Print Screen key forces a focus change. Switching to borderless fullscreen or using a tool like Xbox Game Bar often fixes it. I ran into the same thing while taking screenshots of slicer previews, since apps like Orca Slicer use a lot of keyboard shortcuts too. If anyone’s curious, I grabbed it from https://orcaslicer.pro and noticed windowed mode makes screenshots much smoother without minimizing anything.

  • That happens because Print Screen isn’t always handled the same way in every game or system setting — sometimes it gets interpreted as a window switch or system command, which causes the game to minimize instead of taking a screenshot. Try using the built‑in screenshot method that most platforms provide (e.g., Steam’s F12, Nvidia’s Alt + F1, or the Windows Snipping Tool with Win + Shift + S) so the game doesn’t lose focus. You can also check that nothing in your keyboard software is remapping Print Screen to minimize windows.
If you need quick visual guides or simple tools for preparing and editing screenshots before you save or share them, tutorials on using basic editors like Paint 3D can help — see on thePaint3ds.
