Recent Patch Causing Critical Issues in Battlefield Online Multiplayer
Dear EA/DICE Team,
The latest update has caused severe issues preventing many players from accessing online matches in the Battlefield series, including BF1, BF5, and especially BF2042. In BF2042, the game freezes completely during the loading screen, forcing a full system restart. Even after rebooting, the issue persists upon relaunching the game.
I have exhausted multiple troubleshooting steps without success, including:
- Verifying game file integrity
- Reinstalling the game
- Using the official repair tool from the website
- Disabling firewall and antivirus software
- Uninstalling and reinstalling the EA Anti-Cheat (EAAC)
- Running the EAAntiCheat.Installer to repair and update BF2042 components
- Updating GPU drivers
- Reinstalling/updating the OS
None of these resolved the problem. Based on reports from other affected players, the issue may stem from a bug in the updated anti-cheat system, causing sudden memory spikes that crash the system.
We urge you to investigate and address this critical issue promptly. Many of us are eager to return to Battlefield’s online multiplayer experience.
Additionally, I sincerely hope that my account will not be penalized for reporting this issue—my intention is only to help improve the game. Thank you for your understanding and support.
I've found the real solution, which is to disable the virtualization security feature, commonly referred to as VT/VBS. You'll need to go into the BIOS settings to turn it off
