- Respect the driver, don't steal their seat when they hop out to repair the vehicle from the outside themselves, only if the driver runs of you can switch seats. In case you need to switch to drivers seat to deal with an incoming threat make sure you switch seats again when the original driver hops back in.
Hard disagree. Not stealing their seat teaches them that it's okay to bail as the driver. A driver should never leave their vehicle ever. They are better off dying than getting out, because one day they will bail out to repair and at the same time the gunner engineer will, and some sneaky enemy will run up and steal the vehicle.
Death before dismount!
MackTKau There's several types of vehicle bailers. First there's the ones who use vehicles as a taxi to get from A to B as fast as possible, you won't ever change their behaviour because it's not in their selfish nature, and since they bailed the vehicle and ran off it's perfectly ok to take their drivers seat.
Then there are drivers who panic bail when their vehicle gets critically damaged leaving the vehicle. If they don't get back in or die, again ok to take the drivers seat in that case.
And then there's drivers like me who get out because their vehicle needs repairs and their passengers are not getting out to do the repairs, because they're not an engineer. I will never do this in the middle of combat but I'll try to retreat to safety as ElliotLH also described. If my gunner is not an engineer he should stay in the vehicle, as also with an occupied gunner seat the vehicle won't be stolen. But then he should not take my seat, or give it back when I'm done repairing.
In the rare occasion you describe that both me as driver and my gunner engineer will simultaneously leave the vehicle, first of all there will be 2 of us able to deal with running enemies, and even in the occasion he manages to steal the vehicle there will be 2 engineers with rockets to make short work of that.
