They don't need to take bots out. Let people play against them if they want. What do you care if they unlocked stuff by playing for many many hours, or did it slightly quicker against bots?

Two things here are the real problem: -
- EA/DICE decided to put POWER behind stupid grinds. It's not skill to have more time to play, but that time gets you handed power in the form of attachments, gadgets and weapons. It's not fun or fair.
- The matchmaking system is awful. EA/DICE put people in bot matches when they don't want to and then stop people doing bot matches when they do want to.
Even as someone how has a ton of time to play - I'm rank 156 - I have only fully unlocked 4 or 5 weapons. It's ridiculous. I can't be bothered to try new weapons because I know it will take an age to get all the attachments I need to see if it's any good.
For people with much less time to play, once they realise this is how it works, they must want to either, yes, 'cheese' the stupid challenges, or stop playing, really.
Yes, I think it's a pretty big assumption of the OP to suggest that removing bots will just shift people back to pvp.
Maybe a small percentage.
People who want to play against bots, will most likely stop playing. I think that's what is happening based on player numbers on Steam.
If they are playing against bots only to quickly grind attachments(and some think attachments don't add much power), then they'll come back to pvp when they are done grinding.
That would mean the grind is the issue. Not the bots. Don't force that group of people to grind for power increases, and they'll stay in pvp.
