Do the developers really dnot care about vehicles in BF6, especially aircraft?

As someone who loved flying in Battlefield 1 and V, it's such a colossal shame that aircraft have essentially been ignored in this title. 

No upgrades, no training, no mentions in the campaign for aircraft, and no real progression with them in multiplayer. 

No idea what they were thinking.
