Double xp and weapon xp

Not sure if this is a bug or not.  Thats why im putting it in Discussion section. Why is it when i active a double xp or weapon xp the timer instantly start going down even in menu. It never did this in battlefield 4. Only when In a game did it count down. I feel like you guys are stealing are double xp time and it needs to be fixed. 

For example. I activated a double xp joined game with friends. Then for some reason the game crashed then I had to sit in a queue to join back. But while I'm waiting the double xp time is counting down and waste most of it in the queue.

I think that is completely B.S. and needs to be addressed and fixed because if we aren't in a game the timer shouldn't be counting down. I know I'm not the only who thinks that's B.S. I've talked to all my friends that play and they seem to agree.
