EA Officially Planning Linux/Proton Support for Javelin Anti-Cheat

Hey everyone,

Great news for Battlefield players on Linux and Steam Deck! A recent EA job listing (March 2026) for a Senior Anti-Cheat Engineer confirms that EA is finally working on Linux compatibility.

The listing explicitly states the goal to:

"Chart a path for EA Javelin Anticheat to support additional OS and hardware in the future, such as Linux and Proton."

Key Takeaways:

  • Official Recognition: EA is finally prioritizing Linux/Proton for their newer kernel-level anti-cheat.
  • Battlefield Future: This paves the way for Battlefield 6 and 2042 to eventually run without being blocked by Javelin.
  • Handheld Growth: This move likely targets the massive growth of Steam Deck and Linux-based handhelds.

It’s not an overnight fix, but the groundwork is officially being laid. How soon do you think we’ll see the first "Playable" rating for the newer BF titles?

  • This is very interesting and one could assume that the actual position being hired for is to bring Javelin to UNIX so it would run on MacOS too.
