Crossplay and Aim Assist Issues Making BF6 Frustrating for PC Players
I've been playing FPS games for over 20 years. I competed professionally in COD back in the day and have been a Battlefield player since BF2. These days I only play for fun in the evenings, but I still know exactly what it feels like to be outplayed by genuinely skilled players with god-tier reflexes and aim.
Unfortunately, a large portion of the deaths I'm experiencing in BF6 don't feel like fair fights against better players. They feel like the result of fundamental issues with the game itself.
Crossplay Implementation
Crossplay is still poorly optimized in BF6. I can't count how many times I've emptied a full magazine into a console player, only to see half the bullets not registering on the net graph, followed by getting instantly vaporized in 0.3 seconds. Equally frustrating are the constant deaths behind solid cover or around corners due to desync against console players.
Controllers, Aim Assist & Input Differences
The second major issue is controller-specific tuning and the very strong aim assist. I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve been outmaneuvered and melted by a controller player who was sprinting and sliding, yet their aim locked on like a laser. Other common scenarios:
- Hitting a console player in the head for 60 damage while they’re looking the other way, only for them to instantly 360 and one-shot me from 100m+ with a sniper.
- Pre-firing or hitting first when someone peeks a corner, yet still getting instantly dropped by 2-3 perfectly tracked shots.
I’m a casual but experienced player. I’m not in my prime anymore and I don’t expect to be top of the scoreboard every game and I’m not here to whine about dying.
However, these issues genuinely ruin the experience and make the game far less enjoyable than it should be. I understand DICE’s concern about turning off crossplay for PC — some regions already have smaller player bases, and it could lead to longer queues and more bot-filled games. I also know PC players can simply plug in a controller.
That said, something needs to change. Better netcode and desync fixes are essential, and separating controller vs. mouse/keyboard input (or at least offering stronger input-based matchmaking) would be the ideal long-term solution.
I know that implementing proper input separation is very difficult, so why not start by simply allowing PC players the option to disable crossplay? Let those who want to play only against other PC players do so. It would make the game far more enjoyable and less frustrating for many of us without forcing it on everyone.
