Helicopter repair from the passenger seat

I'd like the developers to address the issue of helicopter repairs being encountered from the passenger seat. When playing as an engineer, I can't repair the vehicle properly because the repair tool doesn't reach the helicopter. The meter doesn't appear. I have to work really hard to find a spot where the repair process can begin. And even if I do find one, it's often interrupted because the helicopter moves and spins, and you and the gas burner move away from the repair spot.

It's as if the repair area from inside the vehicle is severely limited. In previous games, repairs were easily done from the passenger seat, no matter which way the gas burner was turned. But in Part 6, the repair area is severely limited.
