Helicopter toggled assist mode

This is just something i think would help a lot of the average and lower skilled pilots.

It would be cool if you could toggle Assist Mode, or at least a hover mode, on and off while flying, like how free look works kind of.

My reasoning behind this is, its a lot more fun to fly with advanced, but sometimes i just want to pop out behind cover in a nice hover so my gunner can shoot more stable, and then go back to flying like a maniac who got their license in a cereal box.
I realize lots of views on this would just be to "git gud" but honestly i feel this would just be a nice addition to raise the lower skilled pilots abilities and not affect the higher.

So something like for instance holding left Alt would toggle back to simpler controls so you could hover, and letting go returns to normal controls.

  • So if I'm finding the helis completely horrible to fly (even though I was pretty good in BF4) I should be using the assist mode?

I turned it off and forgot I had, to be honest.

If your using the smart rockets i would say yes assist on, it makes it easier to hover and shoot (since you can free aim them) or do a fly over and shoot, if your using any other rockets i would say no, i tried them with assist mode on but since they go where the nose is pointing it makes it difficult to aim as the assisted mode tries to keep you in a hover so as soon as you stop moving forward the nose pitches up, making it impossible to hit anything.

As for bf4 i found just playing with the sensitivity helped me a lot to get that feeling back, but i need to be 1st person to do actual decent flying, the 3rd person throws me off so much, so i mainly fly 1st, and swap to 3rd person briefly to get a better look around me, or when im trying to hover low (behind some cover or between buildings etc) or just before landing to actually see the ground (as you nose will most likely be pointed up slightly)
