Is it me getting older or is it too fast

You could be tactical on previous BFs one well positioned machine gunner could hold a flag or block an attacking route. The attackers would than have to actually think about their advance. This doesn't happen in BF6. 

For me the main problem is not just the fact that the pace is too high, but it even the fact that it is but a battlefield anymore. Enemies are constantly 360 around you, it seems impossible to identify a front line, everything is random enemies are constantly between your lines of defence, making de facto a clone of call of duty. 

In battlefield 4 was easier to identify a frontline that was moving backwards and forwards, here it is impossible every moment you need to think that you are fully surrounded

I'm an older gamer as well have been FPS shooting since Delta Force 2  in 1999. I have played every Battlefield title they made and I was never the greatest but I could absolutely hold my own in any game. Always with a positive KDA. I play this game and it absolutely is much faster then anything else I have played. The movement allowed  to snap shot kills its just stupid really. Yes its a video game I get it but the way players hop slide backflip whip their gun up and headshot you in a micro second is just dumb. No penalty in accuracy whatsoever. 

This truly is not Batttlefield its something else for sure, I can hear it now some will read this and think  "get better" or "cry more" and im ok with that, but the small maps, CQB grindyness is exhausting at times. 

I hear you. I'm 51 and have been playing BF since 1942. The frantic pace of infantry gameplay, especially on indoor maps like Empire State, can be a bit much at times. The solution is to play hardcore mode! Don't be intimidated by the name. It's actually easier, at least for me. The pace in hardcore games is much slower. Without the mini map, you have to carefully clear rooms and watch open spaces for enemies before crossing them. It's much more tactical. Positioning and discipline are more important than flick shots. You do get more camping, but hey that's realistic isn't it? Enter rooms carefully by peeking all the corners first. 

Sadly, Dice is only occasionally putting a tile for hardcore conquest on the home screen. When it's on the home screen, more people play hardcore. When it's not, it can be hard to find a good hardcore server in portal. Hardcore needs to be on the home screen at all times!

Honestly, I don't think it's about age—this game's just too fast. Especially at close range, most powerful weapons have a TTK around 200 milliseconds or even less. Not to mention shotguns, which have zero TTK. Sometimes server issues kick in too—you're clearly behind cover, yet your character suddenly gets killed out of nowhere. 

Don't know what console you're on but try turning cross play off, made my experience much more enjoyable 

I totally agree with the creator of this thread. I've been playing BF since the 1942. In those days. like in Doom they introduced a game by releasing a level you could play for free, and they released one of the best in the BF franchise, Operation Battleaxe. There were many tactics you could adopt, many vehicles to use, aircraft that were easy to master and fun to fly. You could move into postion and sneak around. This is just simply crazy mahem on most maps with few exceptions with Manhatten Bridge being the most miserable map to play. Most maps are small and therefore overpopulated. There is no time to "collect information" in this game! You're surrounded and shot fom the blind side before you have time to think. The last time BF played like BF should was BF 1 and BF 5. Unless you are really used to the level of run and gun of COD, which I am not, never played it, and enjoy it, this game is not for you. I have cooled off on playing this game, and after 2042 I swore I would never preorder another BF game. But here I went again and preordered the Phantom Edition. And I don't really care about earning the skins. It's not worth the trouble and AGGRAVATION! And there are too many and complex challenges to keep track of and again it's frustrating. So if players like it, good for them, but I think EA once again forgot about their roots and went off the rails.

I am running on a PC through the EA app and I can find no setting to turn off crossplay.

WoD-ZeeRox , I hear ya. This game is structured for that style of player or what is labeled the cod player. It is faster because the maps are small and there is unlimited sprint. So you can carl lewis anywhere within seconds , which absolutely kills the ability for teamwork . The battlefield that the fans wanted is simple , epic sized maps and a slightly slower pace. That way strategy and teamwork can be the order of the day.

The Devs don't care , because they never played those early battlefield games. Most of them were still in the closet running their rooster when those games were being played. 

Battlefield is about team play and squad play , not I have more kills than you so there or your mom comments. But unfortunately , that is where we are now. To be honest , you cant blame the cod style player for being what they are (which absolutely do not like). Put the blame where it belongs....with the devs , they lied or  mis-represented if you will to the bf crowd . When all along they wanted the cod crowd and all the money they would get.  To bad...

Usually it's in the system setting on the game but it might just be for console players, would be nice to have the option on who to cross play with because every time I turn on cross play I'm stuck in a lobby with majority PC players and it's just cancer to say the least, not saying all PC players are cheating but seems like enough to make in unplayable for the rest of us. When I switch it off I swear the difference is astounding and I actually have fun, just can't play with my Xbox buddies when it's off which sucks
