I've not been this disappointed since Hardline.

I've never posted on any forum, never felt the need to do this for any game after 20 years of gaming. But this game should not have been released in its current state. I don't know who gave feedback on the map design, servers, weapon interactions, etc. I've played the game for ~160 hours and I can confidently say nothing about the anti-air launchers works as intended 50% of the time, half of the shots that have no reason to miss will just go in a different direction of the target(yes, this is without them using countermeasures). Medics are overpowered beyond reason with no cooldown on the paddles. This didn't use to be a problem when shooting someone didn't feel like an RNG game of bloom despite gun attachments, proper and stable footing, and feathering the trigger. But the current state of this game is in such a bad state I have lost faith in the dev's ability to discern the quality of their product. The maps have huge issues with balance for the teams. I play for hours every night and almost every single match is a blowout for one side. I've watched teammates spend 80 rounds to secure a kill while the enemy team does it in 4 shots but the server only shows, through video and audio, them hitting with one bullet. There is something fishy going on, I don't know if it's just their terrible server tick rate or cross-play but something is making this unplayable. I have never felt like I needed more bullets in my magazine more than I do with this game. Then there's the portal system. If deleting the portal system fixes this game then I'd beg to destroy it immediately. There's no reason for a game with no competitive scene to have this many problems with people progressing through bot lobbies. First, why was it ever decided that exp should be awarded through the portal system AT ALL. That's just begging for horrible issues. Second, you are constantly patching these lobbies while implementing a daily exp cap as if that should matter at all with no competitive scene. Pick a side of the road and stick to it, either bot lobbies are okay and you don't care about exp gains, or they are to be banned and then the exp cap shouldn't matter. Either way the exp cap is ridiculous. I've not felt this much frustration in a game with this much development since Destiny 2 and we all know how that ended for Bungie's staff.

  • I knew from playing in labs that this wouldn't be a "return to form" like people thought, but I saw it as a step in the right direction. A course correct that may take more than one game to get back to where we should be. I knew there weren't many people left at DICE/EA that made BF3 and BF4 so expecting that magic again would only bring disappointment.

It seems the bigger and longer a franchise runs, the weirder the decisions they make until they get humbled. Gotta keep in mind how out of touch execs in charge of these games that really don't even play them are. They rely on metrics instead of letting actual gamers make their games. It's all an investment opportunity. AAA multiplayer games are now just carrot dangling micro-transaction hellscapes.

Keep your expectations tempered, expect the worst but hope for the best. Support what you like, ignore what you don't. All franchises go through this waxing and waning stuff.
