Happy with everything in the season EXCEPT for the nerfing of the claymore. It feels like since the release of BF6 recon has been consistently screwed.
I started in BF series in general late, on 2042 because one of my kids bought it so I joined in. We quickly got addicted and I enjoyed playing recon primarily, but in over 200 hours on 2042 then got excited for the BF6 release.... bought a copy for each of my kids and one of their friends (5 copies and 3 phantom packs for those keeping count).
BF6 releases, Recon is 'nerfed' no beacon fine understandable. Then the areas started being set as out of bounds on the map taking away any sniper vantage point whether it be 'intended' or not, players have always found spots developers didn't intend but they didn't give any crazy unfair advantage to people and there was always a way to fight back (snipping back, rockets, helicopters, you name it). Anyway.. I digress fine... kept playing despite that.
Now the claymore nerf this was my line in the sand and the actual feedback on this season, it's become second nature to me to place them before I perch at a window to begin snipping to cover my back should someone come in... and even if it does kill the first guy there's likely 2-3 more to follow in their squad I'll have to take care of. It is your only line of defense and if it doesn't kill them and simply damages the person, well... you're dead you're outmatched you can't quickly switch to your side arm, you have no chance of snipping them and you're still transitioning from aiming down sights to figuring out what's going on where your claymore just blew up.
This is leaving out the fact half the time they didn't go off anyway and you'd end up dead anyway, I don't know what producer made the decision but I don't think whoever it was has ever actually considered the balance it provided or the fact it hasn't been nerfed this badly in any other battlefield since this one and this season. Even 2042 to the end of it still did the appropriate amount of damage and was an effective tool, why nerf it now and for what reason? Why ruin the recon class entirely? Hardly anyone plays recon to begin with... maybe that's the reason I'm the only one complaining?
This nerf alone, ruins the entire experience of trying to snipe out of a building or spot and maintain cover while you do it. This alone effectively ruins the recon class and makes it difficult to ever want to use it for sniping at all might as well just go assault with your sniper if you're not going to have cover anyway.
As far as other changes, the KORD felt like it had a ton more recoil than Season 2 but I accepted that and it didn't feel poor. The c4 seems to more damage when you're trying to take down a tank or maybe that's placebo. So, that's an appreciated change. But this claymore thing it's really upset me.
The other weird change that I don't think was necessary was the re-zoning of B in the first objective of Breakthrough on Hagental Base, you ruined the cover from above and made the objective less difficult to capture for the attackers but more difficult to defend for defenders.
Hit registration also still feels to be an issue, I'm still landing in cover and dying from someone that was firing at me prior to reaching that cover. I've noticed this particularly often when the other person has high latency displayed on the score board, so it's possible its' some form of server lag compensation.
