It's been 5 for BF3 and BF4 but never six...
However, in BF2, BF3, BF4, BFBC2, BF2142, BF Vietnam, & BF Bad Company they all had persistent servers allowing you to play with friends on the same server for hours.
Party size of 4 means you cannot have more than 3 friends. Raise party size to 12 or 16, and yes you will be split across squads, or even be on enemy team, but at least be in same server with friends.
I'd like to see a 16 player party, so even if we're split over squads, we're still playing together. In the BF3 and 4 era, we ran private servers and being an admin we were able to have the entire clan/community on one side.
It also made managing scrims a lot easier. I really don't understand why they can't give us a server browser and server rentals. Like, let me give you my money.
Whenever we had too many of our platoon on the same side on our server it just killed the server, became boring as people would join realise the team stack and leave.
Yes, this is actually an industry wide problem with no easy solution unless the community itself is honest about who they are actively cooperating with in-game - with Discord and like, it is so easy to pretend everyone is independent, and there is always one bad apple group that will use such things and smash a server for a win, because that is apparently just so much fun.
