I agree with the all above, I know this very well as I am only a LMG Man. One thing I noticed is, when you unload fully to the enemy, it only registers as suppression if the enemy escapes or hides or so...If they fire back at you, no suppression registers...That is why it takes long to reach 300.
If you wanna completely this, I would recommend playing Breakthru as a defensor using 200 rounds LMG taking a vantage point and spraying all the lead to the enemy. Last nite I got to 153/300, this tactic helped me speed it up....
