Well, I would argue the design itself still isn't committed to team play in the first place. Look at the way tanks were buffed in Season 3: it mostly eliminated any need to have an engineer around to repair. I literally struggle to do repair challenges nowadays when they come up, tanks just don't need me anymore.
Revive is the one mechanic that got the most attention, with a dedicated UI, the whole shebang. That UI has been broken since the Top Gun update: it's been a month, and they said it won't be fixed until Season 5. What does it say about their commitment to team play?
And of course, and despite what I said below, KD is still an absurdly overrated metric, it racks way too many points and relmains the main feature on the scoreboard.
All this to say, as much as Battlefield pretends it's about team play, its current design belays that. Players go where the design takes them, and if it takes them towards individual achievements...
