What’s the deal with the ridiculous accuracy of light weapons?

I hesitate to call it cheating, but it pretty much seems like it, and it seems to be particular players that have essentially zero recoil. Always 1-3 standouts per TDM or CQ battle map. SMG and the carbines are the biggest offenders. I play a lot of TDM, and getting insta-killed headshot while mostly behind cover by SMG with absolutely no recoil at 30, 40+ meters by some player with  double the kill rate of everyone else happens way, way too often. As usual, Dice over-favors bullets on target as fast as possible vs kinetic energy. IOW getting hit by an LMG at close range should beat an SMG, but BF has consistently ignored that in favor of spraying as fast as possible, and that’s why cheats/aim-assist abusers use SMGs or the most rapid-fire guns most often. I run all the network monitor and hit monitor displays on screen all the time. There are too many players that have zero-miss at range with guns that should have recoil preventing that. No amount of controller/mouse drag-down will accomplish that level of accuracy. I’ve played every BF game ever since release, and this has gotten bad for every release after BF4, and even worse since crossplay and aim assist was allowed.

Honestly they need nerfing. Recoil should render many of these guns ineffective past 20 meters at full auto, not brrt-dead at 30.

  • Personally, I think the weapon balancing is all wrong in BF6.

Heavy emphasis seems to have been put on auto weapons. A lot of them have next to no recoil and can effectively snipe people way beyond their intended usage ranges.

SMG’s, LMG’s, AR’s and carbines all encroach on the DMR and bolt action effective ranges and this is wrong.

Weapons should be made to be effective ONLY within their ideal operating ranges.

The above autos should NOT be as accurate as they are.

Spread and/ or recoil should be so bad beyond a weapons intended range that it discourages people from using them to engage people at distances outside of their intended ranges.

At the moment, there is almost no point running a DMR when it can be outgunned by an auto weapon at range because the auto weapon has no recoil, high accuracy and stupidly high rates of fire.

Regarding close quarters gunplay.. it’s frankly horrible.

The netcode and TTD have a lot to do with this. It’s just instant death when you’re hit by any auto weapon. It doesn’t feel fun to play.

  • A submachine gun usually fires a handgun rounds, even if there are exceptions like the USG-90 (P90). The KV9 (Kriss Vector) even has a modified blowback system that's aimed at reducing the perceived recoil. So it kind of makes sense that as a weapon category these don't usually have the craziest amount of recoil. In Battlefield 6, they are balanced around the idea of being close range weapons that tend to be most effective within 20 meters. This means low TTK, good hipfire and good mobility.

On the contrary, the LMG TTK up close isn't all that bad, but it's not competitive either. In addition to that, the lack of proper hipfire, ADS speed and recoil makes it less effective at those ranges. Beyond 20 meters and especially 35 meters it's a different story, the LMGs tend to maintain a much better TTK than SMGs, but some weapons may still benefit from shooting from a stationary/mounted position to better manage the recoil.

Weapons aren't balanced around TDM and the engagement distances are much shorter, so that naturally means that weapons like sniper rifles, DMRs and LMGs are less effective than their Carbine, SMG and Shotgun counterparts.

They could be cheating, as there are cheats that remove recoil and spread, I have seen some post brag video's pretending to be highly skilled where you can instantly notice there is no recoil and spread on their guns. Then again I too have noticed many full auto guns do lack sufficient spread and recoil. The gun balance is pretty bad and I doubt it's ever going to get fixed.

I have noticed the exact same thing, weapon balance is an absolute joke. Once again full auto guns are far too effective, but this seems to be the case in most popular FPS games, I think they're doing it on purpose.
