Written by a high-ping player

Dear Dev Team,

I am a Korean BF6 player TheFatalDay (IGN), and this is my first Battlefield. First, thank you for making the amazing game, and I am really into it. The reason I am contacting you is I saw many posts about high ping players and the dev discussing latency limit in servers.

The reason BF6 led me to a high ping environment was due to matchmaking. I couldn't find players in the lobby, which was literally full of bots even around the game launch with over 700k players. I bought this game for multiplay experience, not a PvE thing. I needed to find a solution to play with real players.

So, I decided to play with foreign players - for example, in BF6 Official Discord I could meet many Americans and Europeans. Fortunately there were a lot of good and kind people, and I could get a flash card that requires 270 total wins in Gauntlet to get with them.  Since most of them were from NA, my ping ranged from 120 to 190 ms, but it was okay for me because anyway I could play with real people (and another opportunity to improve my English). Fortunately public lobbies were not intense, and I could kill many enemies, centering on "Play the Objective". During the match, I could sense a little bit latency though. Anyways, I was near the top of the scoreboard.

But, things change if the lobby is filled with skilled players. One day, people I played with in Discord were full of skilled players, and we wanted to play scrims for more exciting matches. In that situation, I could hardly get kills unlike in public lobbies.  Consequently, I was almost at the bottom of the scoreboard in scrims. I often got more kills than 'member B' in the public lobby,  but in scrims, I couldn't. Member B always prevailed. This is because High ping makes hit registration much worse!

This is based on my personal experience I've ever had in high ping. In my personal opinion, I don't think high ping provides any advantages. If it did, I would have got more kills while playing scrims.

And if there is any advantage, I also want you to fix it because I don't want to bother everyone else in the local server, or exploit my high ping.

We Koreans(I don't know a lot about Chinese or Japanese culture) tend to play games like when we work, so there could be a cultural difference compared to NA players playing games casually after work. This could be one of the reasons Asian players appear near the top of the scoreboard.

Ultimately, what I want to say is that the reason Asian players join servers in other regions is not to exploit high ping, but to find real people to play against in a PvP game. Please don't take away that opportunity by imposing a latency limit. And to be clear, if there is any advantage that high-ping players have, please remove it.

Thank you for reading my text, and have a good weekend.

Sincerely,

TheFatalDay
