5800x3d Whea-Logger Error Event ID 18

A fatal hardware error has occurred.

Reported by component: Processor Core

Error Source: Machine Check Exception

Error Type: Cache Hierarchy Error

Processor APIC ID: 3

The details view of this entry contains further information.

I'm getting this error but with different APIC ID's so far its been: 1,6,15 and now this 3.

Processor: AMD 5800x3d

Ram: 32Gb 3600MHZ Corsair RGB

Mobo: X570 Aorus Elite Wifi

GPU: Asus Prime 9070XT

PSU: 1000w Evga Supernova G2

To be clear this error only happens when trying to play BF6 nothing else. My pc works flawlessly with all other games: Crimson Desert, Destiny 2, Borderlands 4, Warframe, Diablo 4 and others.

When I launch BF6 it would compile the shaders. Then I would get in to a game I would be able to walk around, shoot but like almost 2-3 mins in it would crash.

Black screen, sound still going I'd be like this for like 20-30 secs and then the PC would restart and disables the GPU driver.

So things that I have tried so far to remedy my issue:

  1. DDU drivers and installed latest drivers.
  2. Updated BIOS to the latest version. 41c
  3. Reinstalled BF6, Reinstalled Javelin Anti-Cheat (I have been told this can give issues as well so I did this after the reinstall cuz it crashed)
  4. Ran my GPU at stock settings and then lowered the clock on it as well by 150 mhz.
  5. Updated chipset drivers.
  6. Turned off XMP.

I did these step by step and tried to run the game after each time and it would crash the same way. When I check my event viewer I would see the WHEA-logger Error.

Its so odd the game worked great before the new season.

I'm running out of ideas lol Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated.

If one thing that I learned from this experience is this is the last time I buy a EA product. Battlefield  6 has been buggy from since launch.

  • I had similar crashing. It was the AMD High Definition Audio Device and AMD Streaming Audio Device in my Device Manager. These control audio through DisplayPort and HDMI so it plays on monitor speakers. After disabling these devices like I show in my screenshot, I'm not crashing with disabled gpu on startup anymore. I don't understand the mechanics, but this fixed it for me. I have a 9800X3D and a 9070XT. Please give it a try if you are having issues. I had to stay on driver 26.3.1 until I figured it out

I appreciate the reply I was starting to lose hope at this point. I will give this a shot and see if it works out. I have a post as well on reddit and someone had suggested to change the power supply control in the bios. If what you're saying works I would be so happy cuz I'm not in an position to buy a CPU or GPU right now. I've done so much testing and not once did my PC crash during the tests, this is so odd it's only happening with BF6.

Are you on the latest GPU drivers?

Yes, I am currently on 26.8.1. There's so many glitches in this game that I cant say for sure this will do it, but I had the exact same black screen with sound, then having to re-enable GPU in device manager. If it is a power supply issue, generally the PC will hard shut off and the PSU will need to be switched on and off to reset. Especially with needing to re enable GPU, it looks like you have the same driver crash I had. I hope disabling those audio devices work for you! 👍

This is Unbelievable! It actually worked! THANK YOU SO MUCH! I couldn't believe this would cause a CPU error. I hope AMD does something to fix this issue, I'm just happy its not my CPU dying lol! Thank you again!
