DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED crash on Battlefield 6 (Steam version)

Hello there,
It’s my first time entering and creating an account in the EA community. I’ve always loved the Battlefield series since Bad Company 2 came out, but I haven’t played since Battlefield 4. Now I wanted to come back and enjoy Battlefield 6 — unfortunately, I’ve been running into a persistent DirectX crash that makes the game completely unplayable.

Every time I launch the game; after loading for a few seconds, it throws this error (also attached the screenshot of the actual error):

DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED
“The video card has been physically removed from the system, or a driver upgrade for the video card has occurred.”

Here are my system specs:

  • OS: Windows 11 Home (Build 26100)
  • Processor: Intel Core i7-13700HX (13th Gen, 24 cores)
  • Memory: 32 GB RAM (4800 MHz)
  • GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 Laptop GPU (10 GB VRAM)
  • GPU Driver Version: 581.08
  • Storage: 1 TB NVMe SSD (667 GB free)
  • DirectX Version: 12

I’ve already tried the following steps before posting:

  • Updated to the latest NVIDIA Game Ready driver.
  • Reinstalled the game twice (Steam version).
  • Disabled OneDrive syncing of the Documents folder.
  • Forced DirectX 11 launch option (-dx11).
  • Manually edited the GstRender.Dx12Enabled 0 line in the config.
  • Verified and repaired game files.
  • Cleaned shader cache and temporary DirectX data.
  • Reinstalled DirectX End-User Runtime (latest version already installed).
  • Confirmed that all GPU preferences are set to the NVIDIA RTX 4060 in both Windows and NVIDIA Control Panel.

The issue occurs immediately on launch — the error pops up before reaching the main menu.

I’ve noticed several users in this forum are reporting the exact same behavior on RTX 4060 Laptop GPUs, so I wanted to contribute my data to help your investigation.

I’ve attached my DxDiag.txt below for analysis.

Thanks for your time and support! Really hope to be able to play Battlefield again soon 🙏
