What are your motherboard and power supply? It sounds like your motherboard cant handle all your components when they draw max power. Granted this game shouldnt need much power from that setup, but their coders are awful and their jobs and it does. I had the same problem introduced when i upgraded my cpu from a 5500 to a 5900x, fixed when i created a user.cfg file for the game, changed power plan to ultimate performance, and changed the processor max power from 100% to 99%. Also moving the min to 80 enable low idles and eliminates ramp up time when it wants to run at max speed.
McMacApple please post a screenshot with the FPS Performance Overlay enabled. Set it to Advanced.

If you are bottlenecking you can use Framegen to reduce the load on your CPU.
According to a bottlenecksite you are bottlenecked pretty hard with that CPU and GPU combination.
I have intel 14900kf, 1500watt psu, 64gb g skill trident 7200MHz but its in 4 dimms, runs stable at 6800mhz, palit RTX5090 , Asus z790-p, then cooling artic 140m liquid cooling, then another 4 fans, custom bios , benchmarks at top 1% in 3DMark Time Spy and Cinebench R23 about 40000, it runs bf 2042 on Ultra no upscaling native 1440p at 350 fps, delta force the same.
Its the net code and game optimisation simple and michelrespawn the no its the game but yet its better to be adding content and other small patches rather than solve the biggest one of all.
Bloom, desync , server tik rate , direct x crashes files missing on steam, even consoles have problems as they have use ai which they said they wouldn't do
The only way for me to force it to get 300fps which i can with my cpu and gpu is frame gen *2.
This switches the load more to gpu 100%.
Sick of all these YouTube creators famous ones saying you need an amd cpu absolutely rubbish then wont show you graphic setttings live.
I reported 1 today to pc specialist as he telling people to buy based on his pc and 300 fps at 1440p.
He even tried to take money from me kept saying give me money, how about just show your audience your simple display didn't have a clue about frametimes, de sync pretending he understands. And EA im sure sponsor him or ge gets little perks of easy lobbies.
BF2042 servers are full and that game despite being 5 years old still feels , and looks amazing and actually uses your gpu
Ive sent multiple things on here spoke with ea sent me a config file useless.
The sold us a £100 game thats in worst state than the beta so anyone saying there getting 300fps is talking rubbish without fsr frame gen or NVIDIA
Its that simple
I hope this is it
I did had this on and when i get somewhere like crazy both of them are getting Red and Yellow at the same time.
Well the only thing you can do to reduce the load on the CPU is to limit the FPS to a number that feels right, but doesn't fully utilize it, so it maybe runs at a max of like 85-90%, this way it should run better.
Changing my min processor power to 80 and max to 99 (instead of 100) fixed my cpu problems, idles at 53 instead of 76 degrees in game now. It seems like it manually overrides the games attempts to overload your cpu, even helped my hitreg alot
McMacApple looks like a CPU bottleneck. Please download HWiNFO and post a screenshot of your System Summary.

Doesn't this basicly turn off the "Turbo" features of a CPU systemwide, because it can't run at more than 100% anymore? I think 99% mean actual fixed 99% and 100% is 100% and more like 112% etc. if the turbo kicks in. I wouldn't recommend that to anybody tbh. Sure it probably can solve problems, but also reduces performance in moments when you need it the most. But he uses an Intel and that is different than AMD, so hey maybe that helps him. I remember the last time I owned an Intel I had it just permanently run at the same fixed clock speeds, if it's fixed values it's okay to set the power to 99%.
Well or I understood the "Processor Power" option wrong, I never had to use that to solve any problems.
