Motion Sensor Settings Nonfunctional

Not sure how many other people use gyro for FPSs, but I got BF6 on my PS5 because I was excited about flick stick on a competitive game. However, the motion sensor settings are completely non-functional - I've tried everything I can think of to get them to work and they don't.

I did a bit more research and apparently this has been a thing since the start of the beta. This was the only reason I bought the game. If anyone's gotten it working, I implore you to reply and lemme know how, otherwise I'm very disappointed in DICE for consistently saying they'll have a feature available at launch, not working on it at all during the beta, then not saying anything (not even putting it in known issues) about it's functionality post-launch.

Bit of a waste of $75, if you ask me.

---

Clarification - Several people have found ways to get motion sensor settings to a semi-functional state. That being said, right stick + gyro is not possible atm, acceleration is very, very rough, and gyro is likely a very low priority for the team until they get Aim Assist and recoil fixed. I doubt this post will be marked solved before the end of the year. Thankfully, there are lots of other great shooters with excellent gyro if that's something people are looking for. Not going to recommend any here, but take a look in r/GyroGaming over on Reddit if you're curious.

10/29 update - No real updates. Console team is working with engine team to fix various controller issues, including recoil, AA, and gyro, but no fixes have been implemented in-game, and there is no timeline of that happening as of today.

As a side note, I don't blame the devs for not being able to implement fully functional gyro at launch, since I no longer expect any AAA game to launch truly finished. I do, however, blame those who invalidate gyro and see it as inferior to aim assist, when gyro is SIGNIFICANTLY EASIER TO DEVELOP AND IMPLEMENT THAN AIM ASSIST and also allows the game to be accessible to an increasingly large number of players who, for some reason or another, have difficulty controlling an entire screen with a tiny stick module. You want more people to play your game? Implement gyro. Praise gyro. Gyro is king, and those who don't see gyro as higher priority than aim assist are in for a rude awakening when all major first party controllers have motion sensing and most first and second party games have smooth, intuitive, and functional gyro settings off the bat.

Publishers of AAA games want to make good profit but they aren't willing to make the game more accessible to tens (if not hundreds) of thousands of people. It just seems... Counterintuitive.

I am still awaiting a response from the development team. A patch date, an acknowledgment, or any indication of whether we should wait for it would be greatly appreciated.

Yeah it turns out that they do not give gyro players a fxxk, they still didn’t fix that in 1.1.1.0, they only care about their stupid RedSec lol

  • Every time I see a flood of videos on YouTube about "all the fixes in the new patch" I load up the game with excitement, and am very quickly sorely disappointed. Games written with a fraction of the staff on a fraction of the budget that generated less revenue than I'm sure Dice/EA execs will see in their xmas bonus cheques because of the success of this game, and they just can't figure it out. That or they flat out don't give a hoot. I really regret pre-ordering this game, this is definitely the LAST time I will pre-order a game, especially if it's from EA, but guys, come on, it can't be that difficult to implement this properly. I installed Medal of Honor from 2010 on my mini PC last week, and Steam let me download a control layout with perfect gyro aiming, where I can use the right stick to do all the usual look around stuff, but when I'm ADS, I can also fine tune my shots by moving my controller. I've got more joy and fun out of a game I bought for PC in 2010 than this overloaded with microtransactions trying to get you to give them real life money for stupid in game cosmetics, which they certainly seem to have the dev bandwidth to keep churning out, but fixing the control system? Low priority, we've got to make more danglies for guns so people will send us $10 for utterly pointless garbage. I really wish I could just get a refund on the game at this point. The campaign was a joke, and when you load it up it looks more like a store than a game. It's easier to buy skins and bundles and upgrades than it is to actually play the game. People seem to still be excited about this game, but for me, it's been a disappointment in every aspect. I for real wish I'd never bought it, especially since I could have just downloaded and played RedSec for free, which is all the production team seems to really care about. I feel cheated, I feel conned, I feel disrespected, but most of all, I just feel really bummed out that this game took every turn I was hoping they'd avoid in terms of BR and pay to win and cosmetic micro transactions, and they can't even be bothered to make the controller work. Congrats, here's your crown, you've dethroned CoD by copying every aspect of that game that made me lose all respect for it years ago, and somehow being even worse.
