Forum Discussion
Hi everyone,
We’re trying to gather more information about the situation here, where mouse look might feel less smooth than expected, even when the game’s framerate seems fine.
Some players have mentioned that:
- Mouse look feels less smooth than movement with WASD
- Mouse look feels less smooth than looking around with a controller
- Overall, mouse movement feels choppier than your FPS would suggest
If this sounds familiar, it would be very helpful if you could share a few details about your setup:
Please include the following if possible:
- PC Specs: CPU / GPU / RAM / Storage type (SSD/HDD)
- Monitor: Resolution & refresh rate
- Keyboard: Model, any related software installed, polling rate, and whether it has any mode-switching features
- Mouse: Model, any related software installed, polling rate, and if it has any mode-switching features
- Controllers: Any gamepads or similar devices connected
- Other USB Devices: Anything else plugged in that might affect inputs (USB hubs, stream decks, headsets with drivers, etc.)
Thanks in advance. This kind of detail really helps us narrow down what might be going on.

YEP, Now THIS is what I'm talking about.
I'm probably one of the first on the internet who complained about this a lot since the beta so here goes all the requested information:
-For the first bit: I experience all 3. Controller is smooth, Mouse panning is not. Ingame animations not controller by said panning are smooth and so is WASD movement.
+PC Specs:
-CPU: Ryzen 7800X3D
-GPU: RTX 5080 16g
-Keyboard: HyperX Alloy Origins (no additional software installed)
-Mouse: Logitech G502X with 1000hz (also tested on 500hz as well as a separate Bloody V8M mouse which is 250hz.)
-Controllers: Victrix Pro BFG (xbox 360 native adapter), no special driver for it, just its own native compatibility. (edit: i tested the uninstalling of the driver related to it. This also failed to yield a positive result.)
-Other USB Devices: nothing that would interfere but I use an SSL2+ Audio interface for my sound.
-Monitor: MSI MAG 321UP QD-OLED at 165hz. Tried testing with and without DSC (so 165hz and 120hz respectively)
Extra information: I've gotten my game to be at a completely perfect and flat 120fps (although I also got 150+ FPS without frametime stutters but I'm trying to go for a flat line here). With said flat line, controller is perfect for me. However, my mouse exhibits this jittery feeling. The panning looks like it sort of skips every... 1/3 or 1/4 of a second? Something close to that.
Edit 3: while I also experience this issue without freesync, it might also be worth noting that I do use it now. And I kept a very close log of my freesync and it's not it either. Controller would be affected if it was the cause (which I did test, and in a different deficiency, it is the case) - bromandingo5 months agoNew Scout

Attaching an Aida64 summary report of all the hardware in my system in a txt file.
Stutter still happens when only 2 USB devices are plugged in, Razer Viper V2 Pro mouse and a Wooting 60HE keyboard. They show up as multiple devices in the report but when you check the USB devices tree they're all under those 2.
Viper V2 Pro is running at 4000Hz polling (stutter happens at all polling rates that I tested though).
Wooting 60HE is at 1000Hz but the stutter still happens with only the mouse plugged in so probably not that.
Mouse and keyboard are both plugged into the USB 3.1 controllers that come directly from the CPU on my motherboard.
Stutter doesn't happen with keyboard movement or controller movement / aiming with an xbox one S controller with its official wireless dongle.
I have everything disabled on the motherboard that I don't use, BT / Wifi / onboard graphics etc. MSI Mystic light RGB cant be disabled so that shows up as another USB input device. The 2 Creative audio devices are from a Creative AE-9 soundcard with the external DAC.
Its happening on a 30Hz interval (if my math is right from the slow motion video I took), can you run a profiler and see what could be running at that rate that could stomp on the input thread? - TonyBarta5 months agoSeasoned Scout

NOTES = I notice in some bigger maps the problem seems to diminish, but still very noticeable. Also when FPS are above or near my refresh rate its less noticeable but still not optimal - foodpax5 months agoNew Rookie
It's all of that that but also that the mouse is floaty and input lag is high when moving the mouse, even if it feels smooth. Sort of feels like frame gen even when it's off, if that makes sense. :)
PC= 9800x3d, 5080, RAM: corsair vengeance 6000M/Ts, Storage: SSD (kingston nvme m.2), mouse: steelseries aerox 3 wireless (polling rate: 1000hz, no other features). monitor: AGON 240Hz 1440p. Nothing else plugged in. Keyboard is a voxicon with cord connection. Nothing running on the computer except steam. No overlays. Monitor: 3440x1440 240hz OLED
Keyboard: AULA 60HE, no software for this model
Mouse: Logitech Pro X Superlight 2 at all polling rates from 125-8000hz all same issue
Controllers: xbox series 2 and dualsense, neither have an issue and have been unplugged to test
Other USB Devices: I have tested with only mouse and keyboard connected and same issue is present
I would like to say that this is not a peripheral or hardware issue, as others have stated they have even noticed this issue in youtube videos posted by people testing the game and not noticing any problems. Case in point, I was watching levelcaps video on the game and you could notice the same stutters when moving the mouse but he either doesn't notice or doesn't want to rock the boat, as they say, when it comes to you guys at EA and maybe losing any sponsorships. - Quickkush5 months agoSeasoned Newcomer
Mouse movement is not smooth, same issue as everyone else. Tried various fixes listed on this forum and nothing seems to work. This is a fresh OS install as well.
• PC Specs: 9800X3D / RTX 5090 / DDR5 6000 CL30 / M.2 2x 2TB Gen 3, 1x 4TB Gen 4 / Asus X870E-E
• Monitor: ASUS 4K OLED 240Hz 32", LG 4K 43"
• Keyboard: Corsair K95
• Mouse: Logitech Pro X Superlight, Logitech GHUB, 1000Hz
• Controllers: none
• Other USB Devices: Corsair HS80 headset - VeryBigLouis5 months agoRising Traveler
Same symptoms as everyone else, mouse movement looks like 30fps or something, while keyboard and controller is smooth (if I plug one in for testing...). Game runs at very high framerates natively (200-300fps) with very stable frametimes so that is not the root cause.
PC Specs: 9950X3D, RTX 4090, 32GB 6000mhz/cl30, 4tb NVME Gen 4, no overclocking, all stock clocks.
Monitor: 4k 120hz OLED and 1440p 360hz OLED, but I only use one screen at a time, the other one is off and disconnected fully
Keyboard: Wooting 80he, running at 1000hz without RGB, no software installed on the gaming PC, using internal memory only
Mouse: Razer Viper Pro v3, wireless 1000hz, no software installed on the gaming PC, using internal memory only
Controllers: None.
Other USB Devices: 2 x USB soundcards, Fiio K1 for my headphones and Xonar U7 for my speakers, but only one of those is powered on at any given time.
