[SECURITY VULNERABILITY] - Connecting to online services UNKNOWN ERROR

I've been aggressively trying to tackle this issue for the past few days spending close to 10-hours in various streams of EA tech support channels, and I think I'm getting close to finding the cause.

Current theory is that after logging into Battlefield 6 on launch day (which would have used my account credentials to generate an authentication token), I changed my account details.
Which was all fine while my authentication token was valid.

Once that token expired however (potentially 24 hours later), Battlefield 6 was no longer able to create a valid authentication token which is leading to the error you're seeing.

You might ask "But why is it not using my current account credentials to generate the auth-token?"

I dug deeper, and found that multiple iterations of my EA ID were able to log into my account using my current password.
I suspect this is a back-end bug that could be causing all kinds of authentication troubles internally.

Unfortunately, EA doesn't seem to want to take this legitimate cyber-security risk seriously... So here we are. Public forums.

  • Lucked out with a support tech that would actually action something (instead of just deferring to unhelpful documentation) and have found a workaround that has rectified the authentication loop error [1:86001S:51009S:11468332130:1073807360Q].

What I recommend doing to rectify the issue quickly, without waiting for EA to pull their finger out.

    CONFIRMED WORK AROUND PROCESS:

    1. Download your EA profile data
      1. This is required because you'll need to identify which 'Persona' or EA ID to preserve
    2. Identify the EA ID which was used when you first played Battlefield 6
      1. I had a friend sit on the menu and watch as I launched the game through steam - the EA ID popped up saying "### is Online"
      2. THIS IS THE ID YOU NEED TO PRESERVE TO KEEP YOUR PROGRESS
    3. Get a coffee, and start the long painful process of cycling through EA support techs until you find one willing to delete old EA ID's
      1. Most will say they cant - just move on. Some of them CAN!
    4. Delete ALL EA ID's except the one you identified in step 2
      1. This will align EA's backend authentication systems with the BF 6 authentication systems and you should be home free

NOTE: EA games which may be using alternate EA ID's/Persona's will lose their progress - proceed at your own discretion

Hi SoulReaper850, unfortunately many of the reps will claim that the cannot, others will recommend against it and actively refuse to do it. Just keep trying. Eventually you'll find one that's got the right level of confidence to apply the change for you :)

    Best of luck!

  • The Rep said they can only unlink the accounts from EA and not delete the IDs

This doeeees blow a hole in it. RIP.
Unless there is a difference in the authentication methods used the first time a user logs in vs. subsequent log ins?
eg. First log in you select the ID/password, subsequent log ins revert to a seperate ID/password combination

It’s difficult to say for certain. But multiple ID’s used for account authentication is still probably something EA should be willing to investigate

Hahaha if only I were a cheater and it were this simple!
It was one of the things I checked through downloading my account data and verifying with support that there were no bans or restrictions of any kind associated to my account.
No bueno on the cheating front I’m afraid.

May I punch a hole in ur theory. I haven't changed any of my account credentials. Both EA and steam haven't changed.
