Resolved the issue by removing a flash drive connected to PC. This might be the dumbest bug ever.
After attempting all of the below:
- Got on a chat with EA support and they wiped my pre-existing EA Account and linked it to a new one (no resolution)
- Wiped the Registry of all EA data (no resolution)
- Wiped LocalAppData of all EA data (no resolution)
- I uninstalled EA App, Steam, BF2042, and BF6. Then reinstalled Steam/BF6 (no resolution)
- Turned off Steam Cloud Data for BF6 (no resolution)
- Tried overwriting the Account ID in C:\Users\**\Documents\Battlefield 6\settings\steam (no resolution)
- Tried installing Steam/BF6 on another PC (resolved)
I was about to try hard resetting my PC when I saw this reddit thread saying USB might be the issue: https://www.reddit.com/r/Battlefield/comments/1mjzzfn/error_186001s66003s468882297o0b_cannoection/.
When you have a flash drive with just some Word documents plugged and nothing resorting to a rootkit or malicious software, and that blocks you from playing a game, this might be the biggest fail from EA.
Ironically I was about to write an outstanding review on Steam for BF6 (might have to wait a few months before giving them any praise - The Game itself is Awesome but EA needs to figure out their Account/User Management **bleep**).
weird this only seems to work for some people, ive tried launching the game with all my hard drives out (and the external ones plugged out) with the only usb connection being my keyboard and it still gave me the error.
