Takedowns not working properly

I was attempting a takedown near the stairs by the C flag in the Conquest mode on the Siege of Cairo map. I pressed the takedown button, and the takedown audio played, but it didn't register, only about 60 damage was dealt. I got stuck in the animation, unable to shoot, and the enemy turned around and eliminated me.
