Would I see a performance increase from upgrading from a i510400 to a i710700?

I know the later has 8 cores compared to 6 but not sure if BF6 utilizes just one core or can utilize 8. I see my CPU usage while playing is about maxed out. This is an older PC with a 1200 socket so my options are limited.

  • AdamGracchus upgrading from i5-10600K to i7-10700K would increase your framerate by 10fps.

    All charts from Hardware Unboxed.

Hardware Unboxed has a lot of videos explaining why more cores doesn't always increase a game's framerate. CPU gaming performance is largely affected by instructions per clock cycle (IPC), CPU cache size, and memory latency.

Search YouTube for 'Hardware Unboxed cores' there's a bunch of great videos and benchmarks. I remember one of the videos testing how Intel i9 processors aren't faster in games because they have more cores, but because they have larger CPU cache sizes.

This would be the F version of both the i510400 and i710700. Not sure if that changes much but thanks.

Do you think I would at least get better performance switching back between Discord and BF6? When I do it now its lagging my system a bit.
